The Dexys are great Paul, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. That horn crescendo towards the end of "Burn it Down" gives me goosebumps every time.

And Greedo - great selection! Sufjan Stevens, Sigur Ros, The Decemberists... all of those would find a place in my list.

What do you folk folk think of Espers or Nickelcreek? I like both of those but I don't know how well respected they are amongst proper folk people. Bonnie Prince Billy too. And Smog.

Thank you, and I'd love to hear some of your music some day.

There is plenty more I could say, but not without diverging too far off topic. It is a subject I'm happy to discuss any time.

Misterblack - that's surprising, I don't know much about the Beatles or the Stones as I'm not a massive fan of either, but from what I do know I thought the choice between the two was quite devisive, i.e. "chocolate or strawberry? Daddy or chips? Beatles or Stones?"

Also, I wondered if your moniker referred to Francis Black, the lead singer with the excellent Pixies...

I think the whole Beatles/Stones thing is nonsense, just like most people I knew liked both Oasis and Blur when they were acting out a similar rivalry. Great bands are great bands.

My moniker refers to my actual name, nothing to do with The Pixies.

And Ecko, yep there is definitely some Supertramp in The Feeling's DNA, but plenty more besides.

Reminds me of one of my favourite Harry Hill jokes:

"I was walking past the tube station the other day and there was this down-and-out busker with a guitar playing 'Breakfast In America'. I said 'That's Supertramp'. He said 'Cheers mate!'"

no probs Adrian, I'll see if I can dig out some old 3 Bucks and a Doe tracks for you. I've got a couple of our cds packed away in my back bedroom somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

I loved Dexy's when they first came out, but when they came back as a bunch of tramps with Come On Eileen, I went straight off them.

Tell you who I thought were Dead Good when they first came out: The Specials. That Rock Goes To College gig they did for Radio 1 still sounds good. Punks, skins and rastas all grooving away in perfect harmony. Marvellous stuff.

Anyone into The Fall?

Have to go for Springsteen for sheer longevity, diversity and value for money.

Now The Specials are great, I'm using Ghost Town as the backing track for my silk routine at the moment.

I danced on stage with the Specials back in '79! Shook Terry Hall's hand and danced with my arm around Neville Staples.

Them were t'days...
