I think that's because you're a hulking big manly man and he's a kid.

Hmmm... Maybe it's just the fact that I'm new to magic. Soon I maybe better.

In truth my previous posts speak for myself. The others do help other than you.

I am absolutly positive that you will only get better. You were not bad to begin with. I believe I said in my first post that you did alright. I guess you were only looking at the negative. And the 'negative' was a critisism so that you can improve.

. :| Yeh and what are you? I'm confused about this forum. 3 people have said stupid and offensive stuff to me, when I haven't said anything about them. Especially you "Kate"; first you compliment me about my cards and then say I'm a kid. Ok... if you class 14 as a kid... Other forums are much MUCH nicer compared to what I have experienced over the past few days. I wish me and you (Kate) could just be friends and leave each other alone; if you have anything negative about this post Kate, Just leave it please.

It was absolutely flawless. Beautiful. I suggest that you go to Las Vegas and unseat Lance Burton, because you are absolutely a master of magic.

How's that? Do you feel better now?

At this point, you have two roads that you can travel:

Road #1) Listen to me and show this routine to everyone you know and anyone that you don't. They will walk away, talking amongst themselves at just what a joke you are. But, what the heck, you feel like a million, so who really cares?

Road #2) Listen to the advice that you are being given by the honest folks of this forum and actually grow as a magician and as a person. It's the harder road to take, but it certainly is the best one.

Next, get over your defensive posturing, because it is only useless and is making you look really stupid (I'm not saying that you are stupid, though, so please don't twist my words). It seriously makes you look like a crybaby. For the record, I'm middle aged and I consider anyone under 25 years old to be a kid. So, yes, you are a kid.

Finally, if you want to see how constructive criticism is given and taken properly, then check the following thread:

http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic25030.php

Please note how Ian takes the criticism. Try it yourself, you might find that you become a better magician.

Mike.

Now now my friend calm down..... at the end of the day you ARE just a kid- so am I dammit and proud! I don't have to pay taxes and I'm not legally accountable for many things yet!!!! Don't take it as an insult. And I think you'll find that "kate" ( or queen of clubs as she is generally known) is listed as 24, and I'll have you know is perfectly competent (infact more than competent) with a deck of cards in her hands so perhaps a little respect? And I'd say that goes for others such as bmat who have been around doing this stuff for longer than you or I probably. Anyway, where is the "stupid" stuff written? I just see criticism. Same goes for the "offensive" stuff. If we are never criticised, we will never get better. In the words of Bernard Shaw: "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall". In other words, no-one is ever going to be perfect the first time at everything we do. That is where constructive criticism comes in. I say here and now that I wish I'd posted videos of some of my stuff up here years ago for feedback rather than going out in front of 20 of my peers and found that my "masterful" effect sucked because of a stupid angle. I would have taken any amount of a battering from this lot to save the shame of that day...
Now for one reason or another, i can't get onto your vid at the moment, but it will REALLY benefit you in the long run to take the criticism on board and learn from it. Every day, I pick up strong magic or a hugard and braue tome and think "My god, I should have done THIS years ago, and that was in the days before I joined here and found the wealth of free knowledge that has helped me tenfold to improve since I joined. i hope yo don't lose out on that chance by taking an attitude and sulking off, because this is a great place once you get to know us! [/quote]

James, 19, Lifelong student of magic and will carry on learning for the rest of my days if I'm a very lucky boy.

It doesn't matter if you're 14 or 94, if you ask people to tell you what they think they they'll do so - especially here. Not because of anything nasty but because we all love magic to the extent that we can speak openly and frankly knowing that we're talking to others who share the same skills to a greater or lesser extent. If I get called an old far...., er well you know what I mean, then as much as that may be classed as an insult in some places, I really don't mind.

If you don't want to hear criticism then simply don't ask for it - nobody will think any the less of you and you'll still get all the encouragement and help we can give. There are a lot of very friendly and helpful members here and there are others who are perhaps not so friendly. That's life, we're a cross section of a very wide sample of humanity from most parts of the globe so be ready for responses which may not always be so complimentary. If I ask someone to say what they think about the way I do a routine and they tell me it's rubbish then fine, I'm glad they told me and not a paying audience who boo, hiss and jeer before walking out leaving me with egg on my face and very probably unpaid. Now how about taking a deep breath and not posting knee jerk reactions?

Don't worry, this forum has nothing against kids. In fact, I'm 12, younger than you, and everyone's incredibly nice to me.

Right guys...?
Yeah they're just doing what you asked.
