i got pretty lucky with the insurance, but I am going 3rd part fire and theft, so if someone hits me, its fine, if i hit someone - i have to pay for my own car.

Mark,

Mine this year was just shy of £700 and that's with 3 years no claims and I'm 28.

My first insurance bill was £1300 or something, Manchester eh? I need to live some where more car crime friendly

Even so Rob, that's appalling! Do you drive a Bentley or something?! Mine's £666 ( ) - OK it's insured in a nice area but I'm only 23 with just one year's no claims... I'm hoping when January comes round and I've got both 2 years no claims and being 24 on my side it's going to take another drop.

admittedly the car is a Golf V6 4Motion but that first insurance quote I had was for a 1.6 Astra and that was £1320 or something close

Where I live in Manchester is right next door to the postcode which has the highest rate of violent car crime in the country.

you see, its people like me that make sure you guys have discounts as you get older. they charge us 17/M drivers bucket loads, that we cant afford, so the insurance companies have enough money to offer you guys discounts.

Mind you, looking around, £800 isnt bad. Those internet comparison sites really work.

Come off it Crosbie! At least will till your a 17 year old driver before you go on like that! Although I do agree with you, wait till your in that bracket!

And yes, a sheep

I was drving home from leeds at Christmas to see my ex (she wasnt my ex at the time...). I was about 5 miles from Skipton, going past Addignham. To my right was a constant stream of fast moving traffic, to my left was a dry stone wall, right up my backside was some twonk in his posh car.

All of a sudden, the sheep appeared from nowhere. Gut reaction was to let go of the wheel and take my feet off the pedals. Sheep died.

Oh Croz, dont become a boy racer, please :)

Moral of the story is to make sure you have a first aid kit in the car for you and some mint sauce for the lamb......
