My telescope is enormous now that it's set up. Neither of us could believe it all came out of the box. Haven't used it yet -- too cloudy Christmas night and too cold on Boxing Day, er, night.

From the box of stocking fillers I've snaffled a maze toy, a new-agey "relaxing music" CD, and a Cat-in-the-Hat style red-and-white striped tall hat. I might inflict that on the Manchester group next time I actually turn up to a meet. (Hey, it's preferable to the glitter heart deelyboppers.)

Also opened my World Magic Shop order: Card College Light and Postmentalism, and a free Dan Harlan Mindbogglers video (thanks, Costas!).

I got a new laser printer, but that's not a Christmas present, just a necessary replacement for the one that's on its last legs.

Also have just picked up a couple of computer games on eBay: Secret Files: Tunguska for Nintendo DS, and the Jules Verne adventures (Return to Mysterious Island and Journey to the Moon) for PC.

Colin liked his box of fossils. He also wants a coffee maker; we couldn't find one he liked before Christmas, so he's still owed one. I'm also considering getting him a mini-notebook computer. He has to run the car this afternoon to keep the battery topped up, so we might turn that into a trip to Maplin's.

Is that a joke? If it isn't that is one of the coolest presents I've ever heard of.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

"The Vault of Horror" hardback collectors book of the first 6 issues of this classic 1950's horror comic.
"The Tales of Beedle the Bard" by JK Rowling.
Dark Knight DVD
Hogfather DVD
"Duma Key" by Stephen King.

Nothing specifically magic related, although in my line of magic the above presents will all act as inspirations - I hope.

My wife got series 2 of Doctor Who, and my daughter got a Ninetendo DS. I count these as presents to me also. There is a constant battle of wills with the DS already! As opposed to a constant battle of Wii's which will no doubt be happening in other households.

About the only things magic related i recieved was a copy of Derren's Something Wicked.....dvd, and Cards On The Table by Mr Sadowitz.

Are my family and friends trying to tell me something? Do they not want to encourage my trickery? PEASANTS!

So in the way of normally stuff i was happy to peel off wrapping paper and expose;

The Twilight Zone Series 3 DVD ( The old black and white ones. I think it went a bit downhill after Series 3, but there's some classics on here. Rod Serling was da man )

Stephen Fry In America book ( I was initially thrilled with this gift from Mater, only for Mrs Grimshaw to then pipe up and say ' I was going to buy you that until your Mum said she'd bought it for you, but the copy i had in mind was signed '. Bless her eh? I could have cruised merrily through life without never knowing that information )

Ghostwritten by David Mitchell book ( Cloud Atlas was stunning, Black Swan Green was okay, so i look forward to this )

Gonzo by Hunter S Thompson ( A big, colourful, arty book. Really nice tis. I look forward to the docufilm about Mr Thompson, also called Gonzo )

The Second Plane by Martin Amis ( I've only read the first essay in this book and its brilliant. I derive little pleasure in reading about 9/11, but less pleasure in trying to pretend it didnt happen )

A clock thats shaped like a guitar ( It will look nice once there's a battery in it and its wall mounted, but i just cant find the time........)

A Lee Evans DVD ( If you dont at least chuckle at Mr Evans you have a problem. I think you may have let that pulse stop go on for a tad longer than first envisaged )

So while Santa may not have emptied his sack totally on my bed on Xmas morn, he didnt do too bad. Still sponsored by Coke i noticed.
