Meh.

Firstly. It's ITV4. It's unlikely many people apart from magicians annoyed about it's reairing will be watching it.

Secondly... Let him reveal it. Magic needs some limelight.

Exposure has been around since very shortly after 'magic trickery' was introduced. It aint gonna go away, and magicians have survived thus far (apart from those who were burned at the stake... ho hum).

Thirdly, things are being revealed all the time. As I've said elsewhere: properly used, a sleight or gimmick that the public know about will still go unnoticed.

Finally, if you're performing professionally, and don't know how to deal with someone who knows how a specific trick is done, you probably shouldn't be.

All the best,

Josh.

Lol I'm watching it too.

Got to echo Josh.

He doesnt reveal anything but props.

I know how many effects are achieved, but a good magician can always baffle me with even the most basic tricks. The magic is more than the method.

Plus I can't wait to see a load of kids walking round with coke cans glued to their thumbs.

Exposing the props, while ignoring the presentation puts the whole thing bass ackwards.

We have nothing to worry about.

Besides, anyone who thinks the secret is in the props would take a piano apart to find out where the music is!

nobody remembers these things anyway. They'll watch it, think to themselves, righty that's how they do that then, very clever. And then come tomorrow they'll have totally forgotten all about it. Besides there's more than one way to skin a cat, there's plenty of different methods out there for most tricks. If the method you're using gets over exposed, then use a different one.

It'll make a change from lines of the stuff glued to their nostrils :D !

Out of all the MM programmes, this was the weakest, the soda can was so wobbly and obvious Mrs.M sussed it straight away and she also correctly guessed the buzz saw, the disappearing quartet (that must have been made up specially for the programme!) and the Bentley/Lamborghini 'only for TV' effect. She also quite rightly said that the Wall of China/Containers' effect was far too drawn out and ultimately very unimpressive! The cut and restored rope was very poor as there are better methods than that which allow both hands to be shown empty at the start so perhaps it's good that they only showed the more basic method. On this basis, I'd guess most muggles who decided to watch will have fallen asleep after about 15 minutes!

the show did appear to be a lets get copperfield show.
the death saw at the begining was really bad. I suspect that they could of used two elephants in it, the base was that big.

Im not sure, but i dont think people know who the performer is in this series. It sure isnt Val, as our masked man has piled on the pounds.
the green place had a heated debate about it, accusing one particular performer of selling out.
and in a way i hope that it isnt him, because ive some resepect for the guy they have accused.
I also thought he was a better magician. This masked one, has zero stage presense, and little or no technical flare. he cant even walk straight.
also, they are begining to repeat themselves.
walking thru a wall was already covered .

Ill no doubt sit and watch the rest of the series, just because its the only thing on on a monday.
But at the moment, im not going to loose sleep over the effects shown. Principles.. thats a whole different thing. but lays dont get the concept of principles. they only see specific tricks.
Which is something in our favour i guess.

I was wondering who they'd roped in for this show, as you rightly say Val is out of the picture, the guy who did Show 4 after Val was nothing like this chap and he's not exactly Mr.Graceful. The one shot where he wasn't wearing gloves seemed to show broken and slightly grubby fingernails - although that might have been dirt on my TV screen :? .

You're right that they did the wall walk thing before but that was a brick wall and the method exposed was different as it involved only one screen which was moved from one side of the wall to the other. The opening credits also showed MM walking on water in a swimming pool but that wasn't in this show so I wonder if it was edited out or will be part of the next 'show' where they go after Angel rather than Copperfield?

Despite all these revelations, I still reckon Copperfield's presentation of Buzz Saw and Wall of China effects are worth watching as they contain so much more than the bare bones of MM's versions.

The grey velour top was a serious miscalculation!!

Love the 'Hi, I'm Mitch Pileggi,' voice over though.... priceless.

Mrs.M sussed Prohibition as well because the coin was dull rather than shiny. She's getting far too good.....

As for the voiceover, I expected to hear 'Hi, I'm Mitch Pileggi, and I used to be someone famous before doing these shows'.....

I missed it, but I'm sure it'll be stuck getting repeated several times for the next few weeks. If its anything like the old ones then the exposure won't make any difference. The presentation was always so cheesy that people instantly forgot.
