About a decade back my family and I were living in a place just outside the city limits of Springfield, Ohio that is listed as one of the most haunted private homes in the state. It was quite an interesting experience to say the least; hearing singing and piano music at 4 a.m. almost nightly or children playing ball out in the courtyard. But there are a few other facts around this place...

It was a clinic during the huge cholera epidemic in the late 1800s in which numerous people past away (especially children)

On the same property, just north of the house itself, was a fair sized cemetary which was "moved" in the 1970s, when the highway was widened.

A young lad had drowned on the property at the swimming hole to the back end of the now existing property line.

A runaway slave was caught by slave hunters on site and lynched; hung by the neck in an old oak just behind the barn (the home was a stop over for the old Underground Railroad).

There are other tales and historic factors around the home but just in these key points we find plenty of reason to believe it really is haunted. But adding to the mix is the fact that I knew nothing of the house's history when we first moved in... I lived there for two weeks by my self, cleaning and preparing the place for the rest of the crew to move in... I was the first to hear the sounds and notice certain phenomena... then, when Marcy and the kids moved in, without my saying a word, they started talking about the very same manifestations happening at the same time of night and in the same rooms as I'd noticed. Something that visiting guests likewise picked up on.

As I said, it was quite the experience and most of it was pure fun.

My mums house has two ghosts, one upstairs and one down. I've never seen or heard the one downstairs but my mum and dad talk about it onening snecks on doors and the sound of coal being shoveled coming from the coal shed which was in the house. The one upstairs I have heard and seen, I used to hear it climb the stairs and I'd feel it watching me when I was in bed, it also used to feel like someone chasing you downstairs sometimes. I can also remember seeing a shadow in my bedroom from my doorway, I can remember my mum walking past the door and not casting a shadow!! About 5 years ago me and my sisters were sat talking about the house and all said pretty much the same thing had happened but none of us had talked about it till then.

Then I lived in a flat that had a ghost cat which I stood on one night and it hissed at me!! Don't even get me started in the nursing home I used to working, that needs a book writing about it, in fact why am I sat here writing this when I should be writing that book :D

the one in the lounge at mums has a name. he is called duke the peddler. How do i know? because when my youngest brother was about 4, he toddled into the kitchen where mum and i were, and he said.....im duke the peddler.
a 4 year old using the word peddler is strange enough, but when we asked him what he ment, he said that the man in the front room told him to tell us this.

a few years later, my sister got to meet duke. again, it was from the kitchen. she was at the fridge, and as she closed the door, she looked into the hall way. she screamed the place down, because she saw a grinning old man looking around the door at her.

and my contact with duke, was late at night. id been down for a glass of water. i passed the lounge door, which was ajar.

as i reached it, something kicked the door hard, really hard.
and it slammed shut.
and as i ran up the stairs.. i felt someone running up behind me.

no joke. it really happened

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....
