Ah, may as well. BBC4 has stopped showing the New Avengers halfway through series 2

I really hope you're not talking about the U.S. show on CBS... it stinks!

Too... there is already a thread here discussing it :?

Indeed there is a small mention of it - at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/sutra297566.php#297566 and there's another one where Craig mentioned it but I can't find that one, sorry. I'll probably watch the first episode and if it's as bad as Craig advises it'll be the last one for me as well :D !

Ah, thought there might've been but felt that searching for "the mentalist" wouldn't bring up much joy ;)

What irked me was the way in which the people, situations and conflicts could have come straight out of CSI. It's all rich, successful people gone bad.

If The Mentalist was working Kojak's beat, it would have been a lot more dynamic methinks.

Otherwise, I'm not ready to write it off quite yet. Yes, the deductions are implausible, but that presentation of mentalism is going to do all sorts of good for working mentalists. :)

I also hate the 'this is why I did it, folks' exposition at the end - which has become a staple part of CSI and dates back to Scooby Doo.

It's as if they can't be bothered telling the story as it goes...

It had all the faults of a programme that means to appeal to the mass pubic, but I agree with Pete, the word 'mentalist' will become more part of common parlance now and not carry with it the usual pejorative understanding.

CSI is so bad it's good, folks! Gotta love the cheesy lines like

'this is no ordinary death [lower your sunglasses]...this is...murder!'

Look forward to the next episode and as in many things, there is always something to learn, good or bad....

My favourites are the ones like:

[Decapitated corpse is discovered]
"Looks like he lost his head!"
cut to commercial break

[Corpse found plugged into electric socket]
"Shocking!"
cut to commercial break

Every single episode has between three and five sililar helpings of cheese. :)

It was nothing special, in fact quite boring at times.
