I shall not be going to Blackpool. Partly a fear of the blue-rinse brigade, partly because I'm underfunded, partly because I don't want to turn up there and be told I'm sh...ockingly bad.

im so dissapointed. i have never been and i was really hyped this year at the thought of going, and then i found out the prices of every thing. firstly £70 for the gold card, then £60 ravel on the bus as i live in wales and then at least £60 on 4 nights in a hotel, thats £190 before i even buy anything at the dealer stall and minus drinking money. and on top of that my girlfriend would be coming with me, making it at least £500, its just not economically viable and im so gutted :( i probably wont be able to go until im out of uni, aaages then =[ =[ =[ =[ =[

Nope, not for me this year. It's a shame, I've not done Blackpool Convention yet, I've heard mixed reports but I'm dead curious to see it in action.

I won't be going and to boot, I think that I may have been banned anyway.

Last year was my first ever year at Blackpool and despite not taking nearly enough cash for all the great stuff on sale, I had a great time. Due to the nature of my job, I didn't buy a ticket in advance as there's a high likelihood of my calendar changing from day to day.

I bought my ticket "on the door" on Friday night, after fighting my way past security ready for a Saturday morning kickoff. Don't know how I did it...inadvertant hypnosis....just one of those faces....but I have to say, Ian Rowlands show was an inspiration to me. He's my new favourite.

Nuff said...

Anyhoo.
If it's your first Blackpool. Don't be scared. There's frankly nothing to be scared of. Just lots of geeky magic types buying stuff they can ill afford.

But its not all about the money.

Just time your day around the lectures, this is where the true value of Blackpool lies.

Great weekend, and certainly not too far to travel and I live in Scotland.

This year I MUST actually try to meet up with some of the Talkmagic folks too.
