Blackpool Convention Registration Desk Opens. The Registration Desk for the 2010 Blackpool Magicians’ Convention officially opens on 1st July but you can book now to avoid the rush. For details of the prices for individual days or for the convention as a whole, download a registration form from the Blackpool Magicians’ Club website www.blackpoolmagic.com (all major credit cards accepted, or pay by cheque). A link on the website will take you to a conference bookings site where you can select your accommodation. The 2010 Blackpool Magicians’ Convention, which runs from Friday 19th February 2010 to Sunday 21st February 2010, is the largest magic convention in the world! February 2009's was simply superb - don't miss next year's convention!

It's never too early to start thinking about the Blackpool bash :D !

Indeed you did, I noticed you momentarily over the other side of the Spanish Hall bar but were then engulfed by the crowds and that's the last I saw of you :D !

Do you know roughly when we find out who will be there?

And... does it really matter?
I cannot imagine a line up that would stop me going.

Details are seldom settled early on but the names of those booked tend to be publicised progressively from September onwards. January sees the rush of detail so it's always an act of faith/hope to book early although if you find you can't go then up to the cut off date they will make a refund to you.

We should be working with Blackpool again this year to release all the names and do some interview with them in the run up to the convention on www.magicconventionguide.com

Not really, just interested really. I know last year had an absolutely awesome (sorry) line up, and the parlour shows were amazing.

If I do go again, hopefully this time I can meet some more people and not be walking around on my own for the most part :(

I'll almost certainly go to this. Not been to any sort of magic meet or convention before but I can imagine it is a lot of fun!

I have close relations in Blackpool too so I am sorted for accommodation!

Being a newbie, do I need to be a part of a society to go to these bashes or is it open to anyone with an interest?

Will not being part of a society inhibit what I can get access to at all?

Also, I'll probably be there by myself. Are people fairly friendly usually? I am all up for making a few magic enthused friends to share a few pints with.

Hi Dave,

you do not need to be a part of any society and your access is only limited by the kind of ticket you purchase. FYI - The VIP ticket isn't as good as it sounds (at least to me) but i suggest you buy this for your first year so at least you are aware of what you're not bothering paying for (and not really missing out on) for subsequent years.

I went to my first convention by myself and just met up with a few folk off this board, most of them are alright. Get a few people's mobile numbers a week or so before the convention and come join us for drinks, I can think of a dozen people that will welcome you along.
