we never had sunscreen as kids in the '70s. We had bikes and we'd play out on them all day long.

Perhaps they do, but it doesn't make the action taken by the school any less appalling. If my son's school did this, I'd be horrified.

And the Royal Mail lawyers all want sacking. That's absolutely crazy.

Because they'd need to prove that they had policies, procedures and disciplinary processes in place: all of which dilutes the core business of nicking christmas presents.

Things get really silly in the states. Big shops (like Walmart) specifically do not have written crowd management and control procedures written down. Why? Because if they did and they didm't work, or if someone was injured and an expert could be persuaded to say that they were not good enough or if the staff did not follow them, then the would be liable for a law suit. Consequently shop staff do not know how to manage large crowds. Consequently people die from crush injuries outside these shops.

I didn't like it until this aft. It took me ages to fill up my son's paddling pool, followed by a mad half hour jumping around trying to wet each other as much as possible.

It's such a buzz to see a 6yr old enjoy themselve so much. Kids are ace :D

The end is in sight. There's a low pressure system due in off the Atlantic by weekend.

So if they can be sued when providing items which some employees choose not to use, wouldn’t they be even more likely to be sued by withdrawing the items from everyone? All it will take is one employee to develop a melanoma and they can argue that the likelihood would have been less had the Mail supplied the sunscreen. Standing back a bit further, I can see this is just a cynical cost cutting exercise by the bean counters at Royal Mail HQ, ready for part privatisation, and using legal liability as a poor excuse.....

I had to have a shave today. Getting rid of a month's worth of beard certainly helped, but what helped more was the constant rain from 2pm onwards. It was still warm despite the rain, and I even went out without a coat, just to enjoy the water...

...Still too warm to sleep soundly, though...

It is rather pleasant today. There is a nice, cool breeze coming through the window right now and I am feeling comfortable for the first time in days. Splendid.

I fell through the door at 3.30 ish this morning and decided to take my 2 Yorkies out - it was just starting to get light ..... the dogs were wondering what was going on 'cos I never take them out at this time - must be the heat (the beer may have also been a small contributing factor  ).

Anyway it's lashing down here in "Costa Del Burnley" ....... yay 8) .

Think of us poor buggers that have gotta work in this - I'm a window cleaner and this week has been absolutely unbearable. I've never drunk so much in all my life (well, apart from last Friday night maybe  ).

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

They're the best kind. In fact, the best picnics take place indoors and include a trip to the fish & chip shop.
