That was excellent.

But why do people insist on doing really bad false-cuts before they begin an effect??? I spent 2 years doing the exact same thing - really obviously, terribly, self-flaggingly unnatural cuts that were sooooo definitely a stack or partial-stack disguise, yet when you think about it from a layperson's point of view, just draws attention to a possibility that wasn't even in their heads in the first place.

Although I agree with you that one shouldn't run if one is not being chased, I will only say this. The cuts were to simply kill time as the music was cued up for the vanishes and the subsequent assembly.

Besides.. what the Hell do I know. I'm just a Mentalist.

How very odd. I told Paul exactly the same thing as the queen of clubs a few months ago and he gave exactly the same response. I am afraid that queen of clubs is right.

Very sarcastic. Don't be impatient. People will talk to you in the end. We British are very reserved you know. The queen of clubs has already spoken to you but I am afraid that is a dubious consolation.

I see nothing wrong with the cuts in this case. This entire McDonald routine is "flourishy", so why not start with fancy cuts? I don't think a lay audience will make any assumptions regarding stacks, etc - especially since they do not know what the effect is, and by the time they do, the cuts are long gone.

I think it is a matter of style. For example, I try to avoid any type of flourish when I perform - but that's just me! I don't want to do a presentation of "skill" at all - but, of course, there is nothing wrong with that approach.
