I use some variations of this move since I read James Swains "21st Century Card Magic" (1999, S. 140, Dealing Centers/The Muck).

I'd say one that you can do that looks fair, hit 100%, and not be caught.
Although the riffe force could work, waht if your break is near the middle and you get stopped after 10 cards?

Then you're not riffling quickly enough and/or making too big a deal out of where you took the cut

In short...A Forcing deck is the absolute number one choice. Following that, the underspread force, as it allows a change of mind.

As I have said countless times you don't need to learn 100 odd forces you should focus on one or two and perfect them as in most tricks either force will gather the same effect.

but I can understand you want to learn alot first then pick a few and perfect them.

I find it strange when a magician asks someone to pick a card, then later he uses a totally different way to ask someone else to pick a card. That is why I only use one force and use it consistantly. Even when offering a free choice I do the same forcing move for consistency.

Similarly, I always like to shuffle and cut the pack in the same consistant way.

I'm with Discombobulator, I always try to make sure that when ever I have a spec pick a card, it looks identical. Doesn't matter if I'm forcing or not.

I almost always have the spectator sign the card so my force is really quite simple. "we need a card, this one will do" and I hand the spectator the card. Stupid yes, effective yes.

In bizarre magic I always use the cross cut force and I patter around the whole cross issue. Really is a thing of beauty. My other favourite is the slip cut force. I don't know why. but I too keep it the same with the same audience.
