I agree, I was happy with the show; to the point I got a bit emotional at the end.
Nice to see something that's not all the same. People are complaining that it's not the old Derren stuff. However, if it was you'd be complaining that he's not doing anything new..... go figure....

It's interesting how many threads here talk about how it's not the tricks that are important but the presentation- magic should be entertaining and have an emotional impact on the spectators.

There were no real 'tricks' in the show but in my opinion it was very entertaining as well as thought provoking and had an emotional impact.

Sure, there was no mentalism that you'd find in Corinda in it, but why should there be? The impact of the effect on the viewer is more important that the effect itself.

I've only just got round to watching but was very pleasantly surprised having read some of the comments that have been made. I really don't understand the accusations that the guy was a stooge, in fact, I felt that you'd have to be pretty damn cynical to jump to that conclusion in the first place.

What its not real none of this magic stuff? Arnie aint really half robot either you be telling me next.

A magician used a trick who would have thought it? I think some people confuse Derren with Merlin .

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Finally watched it on 4OD along with some guys from the shop (Staff, friends whom are fairly intelligent). A summary:

1. The guy seems slow, but he does callcentre work doing insurance. Not the sharpest tool in B&Q, but doubtful that he's a stooge. Even the staff know that the breadth of humanity can sling out people like that and also far worse.
2. That croc was piddling!
3. The stomping towards the cabin to do something stupidly scary, resigned to your fate, then 2 foot from the door being jumped on by DB and put under has been voted comedy moment of the year so far by the staff. "Oh cr*p, oh cr*p, oh cr....ZZzzzzzzz"
4. Great that he's managed to land it. Staff suggested making it harder like a stuck gear or a forced crash, until it was pointed out that you really should reward someone that tries to do the right thing.
5. That ending was a bit too saccharine sweet for our tastes.

Overall: A fairly good offering. Roll on 28 days 22 hours 28minutes 48 seconds and 2 Esso Tiger Tokens.

Watching: Jeeves and Wooster

I loved the show, but it did remind me just a little bit of this:

For those not entertained by the show, I would gladly trade an entire season of Criss Angel's "Mind Freak" for any one DB episode. Y'all are spoiled.

forget all this stooge business , I noticed errors during the talk down firstly the throttle wasn't reduced for landing nor was the flaps lowed. I didn't hear a localiser either ruined the whole show for me

Maybe they didn't want to make it too difficult which would have resulted in him crashing. This would have led to a traumatic experience for the young man, not sn inspiring moment at all.

The other reason may have been down to editing or just the way it was shot.

Why let something like that ruin the other 1 hour 15 minutes?

I may have been born yesterday but I stayed up all night.

More importantly, was he wearing a seatbelt?

Lets face it if he was that brave he would have grabbed the stewardess and joint the mile high cub.

You don't have to tell me. I came in once without lowering my undercarriage. Had nightmares for weeks after that. Can't hold onto a stick any more without breaking a sweat.
