Optical Shuffle, Most of the palms and probably a side steal or something else.

Lawrence,
I love that story (again).

That's what I was saying, in the real world, you create magic, simply and with things that you can do under pressure, on your head, with everyone watching from every angle, bla bla, etc, etc...
or put simply - 'by any means possible.'

Not with a clip shift.

I think the young guys like the clip shift because it makes them feel clever or super skilled when they can pull it off in front of their friends and not get caught. But then again, I am pretty sure ( 90%) that the same would happen if they pulled of a palm, pass, steal, shuffle, change, DL, etc move and didn't get caught as well.

I never tire of that story

Lawrence should do lectures for ellusionist magicians with that story. "What's that, you can do a perfect pass? Let me tell you a tale..."

"People who hail from Manchester cannot possibly be upper class and therefore should not use silly pretentious words"

ovette master move/ kelly bottom placement.
Last night i taught it to someone who was having issues learning the one handed top palm.
With slight adjustment is the perfect one handed bottom palm. you can even do a one handed centre palm with it. ( of sorts)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I see people aren't to bothered with the clip shift, I did learn it, as did alot of you I'm sure, but I would have to agree, it does seem like a talked up slight, I will use it on occation but it's by no means snuck into everything I do.

I think the fasination with it (or atleast to me) is that it's a one handed move. I said it before that if I am to use it I wouldn't use it as a colour change, but as a control, and in my eyes, a control you can do with one hand is better in some cases than one with two. I am drawn to slights that only require one hand, partly due the the practice, I love to fiddle, but also I find laymen never suspect you doing anything if the deck is in one hand, this leave you open to do things like a one handed pass, clipshiift or other control and just reminded be the previous post, a palm. I do love a nice smooth one handed palm.

I think that might be the reason it's so atractive, I wouldn't say the clip shift is useless, but I would say if it hadn't been invented, it wouldn't be missed.

OK, apparently I tell that story too much.....
I'll put it away for a bit.... Like until blackpool or something....

Unfortunatley the Pizza rant isn't suitable for the boards.

The sleights that changed my life, and I can't live without...

Jog Shuffle
Double Undercut
DL

Among the first moves/sleights I ever learned, and the 3 standards that I go back to nearly all the time.

Slip cut... The first way I learnt how to force a card therefore changing my life. Not the most elegant of all sleights but it definitely changed my life...
