Nothing new there, Paul Daniels reates several stories about clueless producers who didn't care if the tricks were exposed or not.

I was the first magician to appear on colour television in Britain. You are in the presence of a historic figure. It was at the Ideal Homes Exhibition years ago when the BBC had a stand and TV studio there promoting colour television which was soon to be introduced in the homes of Britain. They hired me for four weeks to do daily close up magic shows for 15 minutes each.
I found the producers knew exactly what they were doing and I learned an incredible amount about television in that month. It didn't take me long to figure it all out and I used the knowledge gained in many subsquent television shows over the years.
The key thing is to relax and act as if you own the place.

Paul Daniels mentioned on his twitter that he has been nagged about getting involved but he had to turn it down due to having too much on with the Best of British Tour and his commitment to Strictly Come Dancing (which, as much as I dislike it, he seems to be having a lot of fun with). He did jokingly refer to it as Strict Come Magic.

I agree with Tony. I don't hold a lot of hope out for it. I have seen the American version and I didn't like it. Magic should be given a certain dignity and these shows trivialise it.

Sad thing is, it doesn't matter wha. We think or do about it.

It's an original show being made by Shine TV (Masterchef, Merlin, Sugar Rush) and has the launch producer of Strictly behind it, so it's made by people who actually understand competition shows and saturday night tv, so I reckon it'll be pretty good

Not to mention the people behind Real Hustle - who have demonstrated magic techniques a couple of times without ruining it
