Its a spectacular effect. Personally, I count them off normally and then before dealing the final card onto that growing packet, I lateral palm the bottom card from the bottom to the top so that when the final card is placed on the top it is beneath it- prepared for a DL.
With this I always noticed a discrepancy with the effect described and the method- the method is for naming the card at any given number in the deck, the effect is described as the other way around if I remember correctly.
But the method in Corinda works fantastically, if not slightly arkward about how you count the cards off- but I have performed is straight out of the book, in front of people who know what a DL or top change (depending on circumstances) is- but were still fooled, as a perfect example of simple mentalism with a clear, memorable effect. Its one of my favourites from the card section.
You could also present it so that you name the card and you 'subconciously teach' the spectator to learn the deck unconciously and they name the number which first appeals to them when you name a card- and voila, THEY have done the effect. I always perform this presentation now- and it has to be one of my favourite card effects.
