I did use Vista to print promotional postcards once and they were good. I also know that goodprint.co.uk are good and they use 400gsm for all their cards.

Unless you are buying in excess of 1000, they normally only use digital printing which costs a lot more and doesn't look as good as litho print.

Expect to pay out a lot more for short runs and if you find them cheap, likelihood is they will look cheap.

If you are ordering in the thousands, I recommend unitedprint.com for value for money. They only offer standard 85 x 55mm size but the quality is good and you can save a lot of money.

I also use Vistaprint. The cards are perfect for mentalism usage.

BTW, I did receive one dud batch from them. A comment on Twitter resulted in a very fast response and a free replacement.

Subversive used Vistaprint when we started last year and money was tight, but the results were less than fabulous. We used a local company this time and the results are much better - and only £10 more expensive!

Thanks for the feedback Laurence. We are always disappointed to hear from customers who are unhappy. I've found your details in our system and will pass on your comments to the regional director who looks after the franchise you ordered from.

Did you buy them online? Go into a shop and show it to them?

Shop rather than online. I didn't collect the cards; saw the cards and told them I couldn't hand them out printed that way.

***printing.com have now agreed to reprint the cards.***

I'll let you know what happens!

Thank you all for reading these posts of mine and responding...

printing.com have reprinted the cards and delivered them to my house. I opened this post because initially they said they would not reprint. It's taken a while but I now have perfect business cards...

On the Vistaprint side I think people go for the cheapest (thinnest) card option and use a standard image and then wonder why the end result is c*** (not the best). If you upload your own images and go for the gloss finish (which also thickens the card) then you can get some first class results at a very reasonable price.

Good to hear they finally redressed the situation, I'll leave this post on view for the rest of today so others can see the good news and then it'll be moved.
