Pretty much.

I've only ever "topped up" packet R&S tricks.

Full decks tend to run their course before the R&S runs out, as it were

Sorry to semi-hijack your thread koliko987 but today was my first roughing day too. My first batch are now ready but I'm left with some questions:

1) What is the sign of correctly roughed cards? If I hold two between my thumb and index finger in the centre of the cards and try and slide them free, should they budge or should there be plenty of resistance?

2) Is it possible to over rough? There are two cards I've now given two coats to and they still aren't offered any resistance. And yes, I am using the correct sides

I have the exact opposite, I fear i may not have left the cards long enough to dry as the cards are a little tacky and don't spread at all.

They should dry to the touch before pairing. There should be a gritty feel to them.

The only advice I had about R&S spraying was to apply one coat then wait until the cards feel dry. At that point wait another 6 hours or so. Then wait another 6 hours. On that basis I guess the perception of one coat being dry is false and an extra 12 hours is required. Then you apply the second coat and wait a similar time.

Overnight is the way to go and don't spray indoors unless that indoors is a garage or shed. One problem with spraying outdoors is that the wind will nove the cards.

I use a box lid - the llarger the better and then use a very small dot of blue tack to position the cards to stop them from moving. Then spray as previously advised and leave to thoroughly dry.

If you spray too much then the cards will start to curl.

If you have a safe indoor space when a wall papering table is the way to go.

Ideally roughing spray should be used in a shed or certainly a garage.

Once tried doing a full deck by laying out all 52 cards on my bed and being very liberal in application. After doing so there was not just the nauseating feeling of a legal high, but also the paranoia that your bed and even your skin had a kind of matt, rough, kinda texture - maybe that was just me though.

On another point, there is a free DVD online at Wizard FX, where you sign up and you get their backlog of Wizard FX product reviews (although it's much easier to use Youtube and use that when looking for a review on a specific effect.

Certianly Wizard FX has pushed me over the edge when deliberating as to whether or not to purchase, and when an effect gets Worker Of The Week it almost becomes an autonomous transaction. What can I say? I'm soooo brainwashed.....

Ps that free Wizard FX DVD is called Roughed by Craig Petty and David Penn. I'm really enjoying Petty's tuition on the stuff I have bought thus far.

it is something that is best left overnight to get the best results.
