My copy landed on my dorr mat this morning. Looking forward to curling up with a cup of hot chocolate tonight and giving it a good read over. (what a rock and roll life, I lead! I remember when Friday nights would have been spend out on the tiles)

Welcome to parenthood!

My daughter was sat "reading" NM1 the other day... which was cute until she decided to try and eat it.

I'm curious to see what she makes of NM2 & 3.

A hat and a boat? Main course and pudding?

Tomo, are you going to be at the next Tabula meeting with copies of TM3?

She'll probably quite like NM2, it's very similar to NM1 but with a slight citrus undertone. NM3 is more grainy in texture with a burnt coffee bitterness running through it.

Could someone please post quick descriptions of the effects in NM3?

It's not so much about effects as techniques for exploiting the natural "bugs" in thinking into which we very easily fall. These enable you to enhance your own effects to produce something far stronger - whatever your style. It covers the personal validation fallacy (how and why cold reading works, and how to use it in many different situations), confirmation bias (how to become what the spectator wants to implant new thoughts), the illusion of control (to create impromptu test conditions), affordance (remove all possibilities and what you're left with is a miracle), the shapes of sound (impart information where there is none), and a host of other techniques. The effects include The Naked Day Test (a subtle divination of a day of the week from the date), Naked Horrors (a new and expanded take on a classic), the Naked Credit Card Test (divine the first digit of a credit card), Naked Readings (using what we've learned to produce a completely new style of reading that hits home hard), the Naked Headline Prediction (completely hands-free publicity stunt fro the radio), and the Naked Quiz Prediction (predict which team will win a TV quiz), as well as a section on the development of a Naked effect, and a long, in-depth section on memory techniques.
