I might look into the Genii magazine quoted earlier (by me)
Been thinking about this over the last few days (when not preparing for my job interview)
Please note that I am interested in the subject matter of the post but will certainly not be answering the question (revealing anyone's secrets) just wanted to clear that up.
What facinates me about this effect is the issue of where it or it's variants can be performed.
I only usually explore the secrets of a trick / illusion / effect if I plan on performing it myself. But this is one of those you just can't help but have a vague idea of how it's done.
When you see it performed on stage, a rug, grass, sand etc, I'm sure some of you (especially the initiated) will be able to come up with your own theories.
I saw this version which really impressed me -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY3xCRrQtEkThen I realised, eh you're on rug you little tinker, I thought he had just magically smacked Criss Angel and his army of YouTube clones in the face but no, he was on a rug.
Then I watched this one again, which I personally (whether you like Dynamo or not) think is a stunning piece of video -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPq7xHl8Edw&feature=relatedPlease don't start hating on Dynamo, I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but that's not really what the post was about.
Some of these reactions are what I yearn for as a magician, the look of true astonishment on their faces.
Initially I was amazed, I just let myself go with it (it was nice to have that feeling back again, been a while) but looking closely I think I have an idea, great effect and performance nonetheless.
You had me, not for long but you definitely had me.
