Doesn't the fact that the hands vanish just show it to be a trick watch and take away from the mentalism effect? Although it it does seem good value.

I suppose it depends on how you present it. A more 'I made you think of that time' approach seems to make sense to me rather than the hands magically disappearing after you read their mind.
They can fully examine the watch afterwards but you could easily pass off the fact it has no hands. Clearly it's not used a working watch but they haven't seemed bothered by that fact.
