Overview
You have already heard about the Osterlind Design Duplication System (ODDS) from this review. Well, I would like to introduce you to Richard Osetrlind’s “Essays” e-book, which not only contains all details and nuances of that one effect, but several other essays that I would have to describe as essential for any one looking to get into magic a little more seriously.

I think that no one could argue that Richard Osterlind is one of the greatest, if not the best (IMHO) currently performing mentalists. These essays, together with his previous works, “Making Magic Real”, and “Making Real Magic” give away some of the secrets that have made Richard the top class performer he is today.

I am not talking so much now about secrets of magic – you can get those from Richard’s ETMMM and Mind Mystery DVD’s, but I am talking about secrets of performing. Little things that will make a huge difference.

I can’t recommend these essays enough, but if you don’t want to buy them just for the performance insights, then get them for the Osterlind Drawing Duplication System (ODDS). You will not be disappointed, and you WILL use it.

Sure you can buy the ready made up stand alone effect for less ($20), but making it up isn’t a problem, and you do get so much more from these essays. I won’t go into a description of ODDS, as you can get the details from the aforementioned review, but be warned – if you are a mentalist – this is a very strong effect.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1 Easy – The difficult thing is making it your own and making it believable, but this effect will give you a chance to concentrate on patter and performance, both aspects fully discussed in Essays.

Rating 9/10

Bottom Line
If you consider yourself a mentalist. You would be a fool to pass this one up.
