David Blaine has a lot of talent and great skill, he's an excellent performer and along with people like Paul Zenon has helped revive magic somewhat. However, I must admit my personal favourites are people like the professor Dai vernon. But i have very high regards for all the talented street magicians

I think david blaine is a great performer i have to agree with the above posts that it is his performance thats makes the spectator believe. Although a lot of his magic is seen to be easy by a lot of magicians to be standard David still has a great edge over these jealous magicians who are angry at not develping such a wonderful style.

No offence, guys, but I think that Blaine Sucks BIGTIME! I do agree that he popularised street magic a lot but at what expense? We've all seen his tricks revealed, tricks that used to be favourites of a lot of magicians before Blaine was around. Also, Blaine acts all serious and supernatural, taking the fun out of magic. His tricks could be applied to a comedy routine and they'd be just as good and have the fun and laughs. Blaine has just blown a few measly tricks way out of proportion. I have MUCH more respect for people like JB Bobo, Jean Hugard, SW Erdnase, T Nelson Downs, Robert Houdin, and Frederick Braue. They brought close up magic to a whole new level. In fact I'd say they invented a lot of what everyone, including myself, does today. They did as much for close up magic as Houdini did for the stage stuff.
Thats the opinion of this magician, KrazyKaram.
PS
DB SUCKS!

I think David Blane is well tallented and able to preforme the tricks smoothly and like if it was realy magical. But I also think some times he takes advantage of the spectator but overall he's good.

What are you up to Jamie?

Talking to yourself?

I've heard there's strength in numbers but this is ridiculous!!! Agreeing with yourself!!!

I think that David Blaine has not run out of tricks, I think that he's just preparing for more great stuff. But also, do you think, now that he's so famous, that he could still walk around the streets and up to strangers, without being pestered for autographs?

I can't wait for his Vertigo stunt. That's gonna be TRULY magical if he pulls that one off!!!!

I too think that David is a great performer because he believes in what he is doing, but my one gripe with the man is that he hasn't credited his sources from where he took material. I'm sure someone is dying to prove me wrong but I've watched the tv specials and seen interviews and not once have I seen him give credit where credit is due.
For instance, the end to his ambitious card routine where the bent card visibly jumps to the top belongs to Marlo, as his "Pop Up Card" (I'll have to check). I don't expect him to stop his show and say "now this is by XXXX", but to fellow magicians or in the credits of a video it wouldn't hurt, would it?

Its true. David Blaine does perform simple tricks but its all in his performance. He proves to all of us that it isn't the cost or grandure of the trick but the way it is performed. Like Dai Vernon: learn one trick, and be the best at it in the world, and you will amaze anyone.
