In my opinion, you don't NEED a dl to be a good magician, but most people WANT a good DL! You can make up a good arsenal of effects that do not requre a dl and still be a great performer.....however, I would suggest that you explore the various methonds of the dl pick one you are comfortable with, and practice, practice, practice..........you will be amazed at how comfortably you can perform one, it is often practice, and confidence that will make the difference!

Do you need to do double lifts to be a good magician?

Absolutely not! You only need this sort of skill if you're going to do card stuff and a DL doesn't help in coin work, sponge ball or rope routines etc. Beware the unwritten assumption that magic automatically means card tricks as there's a lot more to magic than just this one area .

I can double pick with a stripper deck very easily lol. Because the card is shorter if you flip it around so its easy to double pick the card underneath hehe. However I dont want to do all my routines with a stripper deck. Thats the only time i use a double pick is with a stripper deck or a svengali. However with a normal deck I have done it a couple times but I tend to not use it as much.

Ya patience is a huge part of magic lol. Some of us have it and some not so well lol. Its hard for me too stay focused on something for too long. However I have been practicing hard and am getting alot better. I want to practice more however I have a huge performance coming up at the Casino with gymnastics/circus thing that Im doing with my team lol. Long story I dont want to get into it. But I havent been practicing magic much because as you can guess Im always practicing my routine for my performance. However once this is out of the way its back to practicing. By the way sorry I havent been around the site much. Ive been buissy with school, and gymnastics and all that stuff lol. But I will be coming around more often once my performance is out of the way. Which is in 2 weeks. Blah Im nervous just thinking about it lol.
