I honestly think this is morally wrong ! This is an explanation of a move which is pretty amazing and sensational. I would like to see this thread removed, at least the link.

As far as I can see, this is not magical what so ever, and does not expose a secret to anything, so why not keep it up Rune?

Kati made his tutorial for his KatiKut, why not make one for the spinning card?

Most of this seems to be a discussion of personal ethics rather than real discussion of whether anything should be done about the video.

"I don't think..." and "It's not right..." are all matters of personal opinion. Unfortunately for those who hold these opinions, this is not what governs the rules. I, for example, think gay marriages should be allowed, and abortion should be legalised under any circumstances where the woman can justify her reasoning. But my opinion does not change these rules one way or the other.

As far as I can tell, with regard to a flourish or ANY "technique" with cards that doesn't involve a manufactured creation, there is NO COPYRIGHT. Therefore it is makokis' right to make a video and share it with whomever he chooses. And in this light, it is up to the judgement of the moderators to decide whether they wish to allow Makokis to show his video here, which is again one of THEIR RIGHTS TO DO SO.

So my message is, stop complaining about something other people's rights will allow them to do.

Of course, Rune is perfectly entitled to his opinion and post his thoughts here in this respect. As always, stongly held opinions are usually going to be divided so shall we just agree to disagree on this one?

Which is the very reason that I asked the moderators to clarify the etiquette statement. As it stands at the moment (excluding Mandrakes announcement), we can post pretty much what ever we want. I doubt this is the intention.

For the avoidance of doubt, the exposing of methods is not covered by copyright law. As evmeister says anything else is an ethical position.

Just for the record, TM members are certainly free to post whatever they like as long as it's in keeping with Forum Policy and the general rules and regs posted elsewhere. It's impossible to cover every angle and possibility unless the rules and regs are unworkably convoluted (which means nobody will bother reading them anyway!) and the somewhat informal system which has been in use for the last 5 years seems to be the best way to go inasmuch as we've managed to deal with problems one way or another. TM is intended to be a leisure time, have fun and enjoy things type of place as well as being informative, supportive and helpful and within those parameters the Mods can deal with anything which is deemed to be not in accord. As you might expect, Forum Owner and Mod's decisions are final on all matters anyway. Hope that helps!

And the gavel slammed hard! BANG BANG!

Well put Mandrake. It's a good system and does not need to be changed. The mods here do a damn good job of weeding out undesirable posts and keeping this forum in some kind of order and I would trust in your decision to edit, remove, or just leave be any posts that come onto here with any kind of "controversial" (I use this term loosely) content. You know whats right and whats wrong and I will continue trust that your decisions will be more than just a matter of your own personal ethics.

I agree with both commentaries.

This is by far the best run forum I have had the pleasure of participating in. My comments were not directed at either Mandrake or evmeister, but rather to those who continue to believe that copyright offers protection from exposure. As evmeister articulately stated, it doesn't, and as Mandrakes announcement made clear, despite this it will not be tolerated on this forum.

Anyway, back to the flourish.

Could you give some written tips on how to make the card spin effectively? I'm following your video, but some words would be nice too. How much pressure, how long it took you to get the card to spin etc.
