 Your dad isn't advisor to David Cameron is he?

Mr Cameron said publicly last week that he thinks Hip-hop is a direct influence on crime in this country.

...there's a ball court near me, its supposed to be locked by 9pm but never is...and even if it were, the little heathens have bent the little bars so that they can creep through...possibly in practice for potential thievery in the winter months...

anyway, last night there was an almighty high-pitched shouting and constant kicking of objects til about 10.30pm...so i peep out of my window to see a horde of kids, no older than 8 with about 4 footballs just hammering them constantly up against the bars...

no parent to call them in, they dont seem to give a toss as long as their kids are out of their way and not annoying them...annoying others seems fine though...

kids nowadays *hoists up trousers to just under chest* need a short spell in the army to straighten them out, no respect for others...but at the same time, the parents need a firm punching up the bracket to make them realise that you have to care for their offspring and teach them right from wrong...its not the teachers job...

Wow, ok, big thread and one I'm quite interested in so thought I would post.

Information you need to know about me for this post:::
I'm 19 years old.
I'm a non-smoker.

For me the smoking argument is extremely simple. You wish to smoke? Fine, go ahead as it is your body. But, don't have you smoking interfering with my enjoyment of life. This includes *points to random people i've been angry at in cambridge* ::: blowing smoke in my face and not making any attempt or having any thought to the people around you. I apologise but my pet peeve is someone who manages to smoke all the way down the street completely clueless (or not) to the fact that those behind them are getting increasingly pi**ed off! *and breathe...*

Ahhh....kids and age....

Well, Ecko will know my opinion on this I reakon. I know so many 13-16 year olds who, quite frankly, deserve the front of my fist and my boot somewhere I shouldn't mention but there you go. Sometimes I really cannot believe the "testicular fortitude" some of these kids have to say the things they say and do what they do. If I had my way, and I'm not normally a violent person, I would hit them each time they pushed the line. I suppose it comes down to knowing your place, which they don't seem to know.

At the other end of the scale we have the elderly. And i'd like to point out here that not all elderly and not all young people act this way this is just a comment on a sample I suppose.

The elderly aren't as bad in some ways as the kids as physical threats are unlikely. However it also works boths ways as I wouldn't physically attack an elderly person. I also (like someone who posted earlier sorry I do not remember the name) agree that the saying "stuck in their ways" is B***S***. What seems to be different here is that the elderly choose much more verbal abuse which in some ways is more offensive. I am aware that this can hurt some more than others also. Personally I ignore them completely and if it suits them then they can say whatever they wish. Unfortuately I hate prejudice and I can describe for those who were silly enough to read this far :P an example of a situation. Sometimes it isn't even verbal but merely looks that I get sometimes. Their opinion is clear from the look I get and my reaction is shock. Ok, their are those my age who drive too fast down high streets etc etc and are trouble makers etc... But to look at me, to think "young driver, male, car" and conclude with trouble maker (assumed from hateful look) I find very offensive.

Just realising how long this post has been....and its getting early.... so ill let this torture post end and go curl up in my corner :D

Well! I've just finished my sixth year at high school and I'm so relieved! The kids there are just totally intolerable. The problem is that they’ve got it into their little heads that they have the right to do whatever they like to anyone, but it’s also their right for nobody to be able to do anything to them. I suppose really that's true, if I turned round and punched one of them, it'd probably be me who'd get it since I'm older and would've just punched a 12 year old.
When I was out on a driving lesson a few months back, a boy (probably about 10 I'd say)decided to lie down in the road in front of the car. Another time, I was going to be doing reversing round a corner and two boys on bikes, having figured out what I was doing, decided to sit on their bikes in the space I was going to reverse into. Now, I'm paying for those lessons (well, for part of them anyway....) and I'm having to waste time finding somewhere else to go because of them.GRR!
I've known parents to be just as bad as their kids at school, "You have no right to say that about____ /how dare you shout at ___/how dare you politely suggest that____might like to stop flinging their chair about the room"
Back in my day ( ) if I did something bad, I got smacked for it. What do you get now?...Actually, there's a point....what do kids actually get now as punishment?!

a free holiday and wile ther on exclusion if they do a crime they get diverted with some other free activity like go carting or car maintainance.

this was voiced by a policeman who belived he was helping by pffering thease incentives to the local scrooats tp turn them from crime.
ok hold the phone just think it through for one second, comit crime get a award / holiday / fun days out even a senile old judge can see thats got to promote crime.

after school there taught that the more kids they produce the more benefits they get and the bigger there housing allowence is.

as they get older they are taught that the more disabled and dependants they can claim for the less chance they need to get a job.

rent, food , playstations are there right and don't need to be earnt.

is it any wonder that they belive anything goes and that there untoucherbal and expect everything to be given to them without any responsibility or need to earn it.

and the media reinforces the stereotype, the govenment talks about it but does nothing and if someone breaks the party line and actualy makes a difference they are stomped on, what do you expect.

I was quite offended at this gross generalization of the youth today. I'm a teenager i defiantly do NOT have that mindset, and i feel that you should realize that not all 'kids' are bad and have the horrible 'chav' mentalisum.

I for one feel that there is an ever growing population on low life 'social sum' which believe they have the right to have everything for nothing, however my point is that it has to be realized that we're not all like that. For instance i have a large group of teenage friends and NONE of us have the mindset which you portrayed, in fact quite the opposite.

Also i would like to mention that we are not all horrible little up starts because i for one have respect for my elders and believe that if you want things in life you have to work for them.

I just thought i should point this out to you because i would hate to think that you thought of the whole of the youth of today to be that awful.
