HI,
This is a follow up to a recent post of mine about being scared to perfom.

Because of my fear of perfoming I have fallen into the following trap, buy an effect, play with it ,show nobody, then buy another, and so on.

After reading lots of threads and based on advice recieved from my post I have decided to learn 3-4 effect very very well, then get out there and show them.

The trouble is I have so much stuff ,DVD's, Books gimmicks etc but and next to no perfoming experience in which to judge what to go with.

I have read threads on structuring and routines but to be honest I am still lost on where to start.

The following is a snap shot of the many things I have bought, I have marked out of 10 how I can currenly hand the technique needed for the trick.

Hopefully if I can find a few effects that work well together ,my confidence will then grow and performing will become a joy rather than something I dread.

Coins
Coin unique £1 and 2p
Chinese BIT
Holy Moly 8/10
Coin Squeeze
Card Tricks
Nailed
In a flash
Gimmicked OOTW
Non gimmicked tricks
Dr Daley TV show, 2 phase Daley last trick 8/10
Red hot mama 7/10
Out of this world(not reds and blacks) its a download, cards reverse in spec hand 7/10
Stacked deck trick, spec deals off cards ,stop at the card you predicted in a card wallet, self working 8/10
Mental
Freewill
22 blows to the head DVD
DVD's
card miracles 1-5
various Sankey DVD's
Born to Perform
Others
Professors nightmare download.

Any advice on what would work well togther, or what to start with or finish with would be greatfully recieved.

I meet weekly with a group of magicans in a pub and it would be great to be able to approach someone, hit them with 3-4 tricks that we both could enjoy.

Until the last few days I really have felt like giving up my fear is that bad, but hopefully with a little advice I can pull myself together and start practicing the right things.

Onwards and Upwards

Cheers in advance
Chris

my choice would be (out of the ones you mentioned and im familiar with):

i would start with red hot mama, not sure on what the second would be from that list - born to perform must have something suitable on it (dont have it myself), and finish on OOTW...make it all cards though...

if you can, work out some patter that will link each trick together though...it will add a nice seamlessness to it all...good luck...

EDIT - for a very simple second phase, why not a cut-deeper force, and a prediction of that force...that way it can lead into a "picking up on what the cards where without looking" kinda conversation...

and if you havent got Royal Road to Card Magic book by the way, get that....

EDIT AGAIN - ooh forgot to say, depending on what sort of character you want to establish when doing magic would dictate what sort of patter used...your reasoning as to why you are doing what you are doing...i'll shut up now...
