Postby Stephen Ward » Jul 18th, '06, 13:18

We had a HUGE computer crash last week and had to get a new PC. At the moment hardly anything is working! my windows comes up as not genuine (it is!) i can't cess paypal for some reason. So if anyone has an outstanding flash magic order. it is on the way. we had to transfer lots of files to the pc. I won't have time to replay to any posts todays. KEMS and ecko you payments have been saved and will be with you asap!

Thanks for your time

Apple Mac... ;)

Crash? Problem? Virus?

Running a small business, you need a mirror hard drive backed up every other day, and a Mac. Money well spent ;)

Whoa... Stephens alive!

Ok, I have to admit that for a business you probably need a Mac.

I don't like them at all... but they don't crash and they don't get viruses. Ideal for businesses. Keep PC for personal use though

Actually, get a Mac and keep it for your personal life too  :D.

There are actually a few viruses, though the number is miniscule to the amount for PCs.

Well Mac OSX has fewer security problems in general(*). If you can afford the pricier hardware and the smaller choice of software and security is your problem then go for a Mac.
If your whole system goes down because your backup regime isn't up to the job then a Mac won't save you. You can make your data more than safe enough under Windows (or any OS) if you go about right way. If you don't then you can be just as easily stuffed by a hardware failure whether you're running OSX or Windows98.

What you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots

mouse jumping around could be a siptom of a driver not instasled correctly for the mouse but more likely its the video card driver needs reinstalling, this can sort out many odd windows problems even some security issues, not sure why but it tends too.

Stephen,

I sympathise mate. I lost mine for 2 weeks because of a spike in the thunderstorms. It blew the 3 volt wire in the brick.

I left home in the morning in glorious sunshine for a day out at Blackpool with the family. Parked up and it was in the high 80's.

Got on the M6 on the way home and the matrix said the M62 was shut on the Pennines (later found out it was a multiple fatal with 2 cars leaving the road because of the storms).

Got off the M62 in Lancashire and drove over the tops to hit several 3 foot floods. It took me 4hrs to get home and then I found my computer had been fried
