True - plus it's always worth bearing in mind that Tricky TV is primarily a kids show - I'm not saying there's anything wrong with adults watching it - adults who aren't interested in magic probably won't give this a look and so the exposure (very basic stuff, although I wasn't that happy with the one ahead principle  ) isn't really that much of an issue. And maybe, just maybe, this show may just inspire someone and in years to come give the world of magic one of the greatest thinkers of modern times...

Who knows?

I would argue that ambitious card IS an incredible effect. I would even argue that when presented well, cut and restored rope IS an incredible effect. So I think any exposure on TV is not good for the art...

I have actually seen some of the episodes and they didn't expose Ambitious Card, just performed it, and the cut and restored rope method was the most basic method there is - there are loads more variations out there.

well, something like ambitious card can be strong, but honestly, after david blaine, you can find out how to do it by searching it up on the internet, for free, just like the balducci levitation.

On a kids show, theyre only going to teach people how to do simple tricks, its not like theyre going to ruin your carreer by exposing everything you do, and if they reveal one trick you do, so what, adapt, make the trick better, or come up with a way to do it so that the person couldnt POSSIBLY THINK youre doing it the way they know.

Oh well, in this debate, theres always going to be people on one side, and people on the other. I dont aspire to have a career in magic, i just enjoy doing it as an entertaining hobby, so you people with something to lose from people knowing the secrets, i can see where youre coming from.

Good point but one that I always find interesting in arguments about exposure - yes, it's true that there are some effects that you can find out for free on the internet but in all honesty how many people will actually go away and look them up? It's much easier to just watch a TV show where everything's there for you than go away, try and find the right name of the effect, sift through the pages and find out the secrets etc.

Anyway, I don't feel that the exposure in Tricky TV is that big a deal, no bigger secrets than those revealed in Faking It.

exposure

Postby Pitto » Nov 11th, '05, 22:19

i don't know if it matters if people expose basic effects but ambitious card is a classic if they showed how that was done then i am not pleased at all!

having said that everybody's ambitious is different with a different opening and end so there is bound to be something baffleing in any ambitious routine.

The ambitious card routine was NOT and WOULD NOT be exposed on Tricky TV - it was performed using a deck of card with football players on them to Bradley Walsh.
Hope that clears it up. Paul

I was talking to Stephen today, and he said he would get shot for exposing tricks such as ACR. He exposes tricks that you could get out of a book in the library or any bookshop, not ones we ned to pay £30 for.

I saw this today and I was fairly entertained. But gosh I can't believe he's exposed things like ACR. That is ridiculous.

Oh sorry it's just when you said:

"he said he would get shot for exposing tricks such as ACR"

I read it as 'he would get shot of exposing tricks such as ACR', so you see I took that as if he had already exposed it and would now no longer do so. (i.e. 'to get shot of') Sorry about that, I misread :?
