This forum is full of people who will try to help you. Please remember, you need to help first.
Don't post:
I want to learn tricks for free.
How do you do? (name of trick here)
These questions will only make people here think you are only after the secrets, without wanting to spend time or money on magic. You will not get any polite answers.
Do post an introduction in the correct forum. Make sure you let us know what type of magic you are into and what stage you are at. It doesn't matter if you have only been interested a week. That information will help people advise you better.
Some posts could be taken as someone only after secrets. It could be that you worded it wrong. An introduction will let us know you are genuine.
If you are having problems with something, use the search function.
If you can't find the answer, then ask. Don't reveal how something is done, but let us know what part you are having problems with. As a newcomer, be prepared to describe what you have by PM to someone. This will enable that person to know you do own that effect and they are better able to go through methods with you.
Remember, Magicians never reveal their secrets. It is to keep magic magical to the audience.
Please remember that whether you have bought a gimmick, or spent months practicing sleights, don't rush to show an effect. You need to be able to PERFORM it. A badly performed effect will only cause these things to happen:
Reveal the effect to the audience.
Get an " I saw that" response.
Bore your audience, as it isn't entertaining.
Dent your confidence, making you believe you can't do magic.
If you are here after secrets, you will go away disappointed.
If you have a genuine pasion or need for help, welcome.
