The idea was intended to be that Creek really didn't want to become involved in crime solving as he had enough on his hands developing illusions and keeping his boss out of trouble (usually involving lust and various females) but gets pushed into it by circumstance and Caroline/Carla. It's only after his interest is really fired up that he works through the logic based on how a magician would achieve the effect. In many ways, his quiet, unspoken pondering trying to get seemingly unconnected bits of data to fall into place are very reminiscent of Poirot using his 'little grey cells'. I still find it weird that the original idea for the character was based on Ali Bongo!

Talk of inspectors makes me think of one man... Columbo.

Alan Davies has rceently been quoted as saying that he'd be very keen to do more Jonathan Creek episodes.

Excellent! If the Beeb have any sense they'll commission another series.

Blockbuster Online recently sent me series 2 disk one. It's the first time I've seen it and I must say I was really impressed with the quality of the mysteries. What was less impressive is that you only get 3 episodes per disk

I remember seeing some chat show alan davies was on (Ross maybe?) where he said it take ages to get the script because the guy who does the scripts refuses to let anyone else help. Lets hope he picks up the speed a bit!

Absolutely! Bring back the Creek-meister!

Also, talking of detectives and combining it with magic, has anyone ever seen the Columbo episode where he gets involved with the magician?

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

You means the one where Anthony Andrews is the baddie hoping for US Government funding, guillotines the other guy and that kid in the magic shop helps Columbo with the remote viewing test at the "Anneman" Institute (!) to catch the crim? The one described as where Lt. Columbo delves into the world of magic, ESP and slight of hand as he investigates the death of a magician, and there appears to be a tie to a prodigal psychic supported by a government founded institute on parapsychology?

No, never seen it :D !

But the link to the plot is at http://www.columbo-site.freeuk.com/sea8.htm
