looking for a swap

Postby Marvell » Dec 4th, '06, 18:28

I'm looking for a six card swap. I'm adapting a classic trick which is easy to guess. This is for my kicker ending.

The cards come from the table one at a time and picked up and held by me. I can get a good window of opportunity whilst the spek collects the remaining 46 cards from the table.

I have no sleeves.

I can work one out if I have a piece of paper, but it's lame.

I'm not sure I understand completely. You're looking for a way to switch 6 cards for 6 different cards without using the rest of the deck as cover in any way, correct?

No, the whole of the deck is on the table, spread out. During the routine, the spek points out six cards which I pick up and retain. I need to switch these for my own. I'd use a misdirection dupe, but I really want to keep as exposed as possible.

Does the deck HAVE to be spread on the table? If not - there's an incredibly fair looking method that will leave your spectators guessing.

As for doing it from a spread on the table - there's a method I use (I came about it on my own, but I'm sure it's been around), but it might not serve your purposes. If you wanted, you could pm me and give me a bit more information on what you're trying to do. This way, I'll know if my method is worth your time.

Check out Switch-a-Roo - Review at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic1203.p ... switcharoo - it will handle 6 cards as easily as four.

Lapping.

Have the six cards to be switched in in Tenkai/lateral palm. They can be in your lap, and put into palm by an innocent 'folding of arms'—at which point you reach to your lap. Nothing suspected, as the six cards selected are in full view the whole time.

With the 6 in palm, gather the 6 from the table and simultanously lap them whilst brining the palmed six to view. Done smoothly, this looks like you are literally gathering the cards up and squaring them.

To facilitate the need to 'mess' with the 6 selected cards, you could always have them placed VERY messily on the table during the selection process.

IF YOU'RE NOT SEATED (i.e. lapping is not an option) you can still use the above palming method to switch the cards in... and with the aid of going to your pocket for a large paperclip to hold the six 'selected' cards, you have ample opportunity to ditch the 6 un-needed cards.

That was one of my thoughts, but I know my tenkai needs some work to make it look natural. I figured I could pick them one my one with my right, then tenkai them in the left from pocket on the fourth, switch them on the fifth and double the last one.

Thanks to all for advice.

how about popping the whole lot into a little envelope, seal it, then reach inside your pockets searching for your sharpie for them to sign the envelope flap, and ditch n switch for a pre-prepared dupe...

I'm trying my best to replicate the "everyone knows it" one ahead pickup trick.

I've had that recommended in a PM. I'm sure I'll get a Sankey vid one day. I'm still quite eraly on in this and don't want to go spending left right and centre.

I use vernons substitute transfer from time to time. An easy sleight to do and very effective.
Great for getting a spectator to choose 4 cards and they turn out to be the 4 aces.

the transfer is a phenomenal sleight when performed smoothly. I was going to suggest it but wasnt sure if it was suitable for what you were trying to do.
I often use it for a 5 spectator card prediction.
It invariably floors each and every one of them.

It is definately on sankeys 22 blows and also boris pocus DVDs(possibly others)

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh
