I'm actually thinking of next year through my community work trying to set up a magic workshop day with a show in the evening in my local community...... I'm waiting to hear back from Paul on that but he is still the best in my eyes!! Without him I wouldn't have been interested in magic as much as I am!

I always hate it when I'm performing and someone says something derogatory about Paul Daniels. The mans a legend and the reason alot of magicians of a certain age do what they do. I do wish I'd kept my Paul Daniels magic set

Mainly his cabaret act which includes Electric Chairs and a superbly routined succession of effects involving four spectators all the way through. At Ipswich he did close-up, a star lecture full of advice, hints and tips and then did the whole second half of the evening Gala Show with his cabaret act. It doesn’t get much better than that!

I reckon you should find the set and film some close up magic and put it on here. I would love to see the kind of tricks that was in the Paul daniels magic set.
The only ones I remember are the rope/plastic ring and the paddles

Sadly the set is long gone
There were some good card tricks (beginners ones) which were great if you were a child as they weren't too difficult to grasp and the pencil through window trick was one in the set too.

some of the best tricks were with those little square sponges.

I mangaged to cut my rope in half doing a cut and restored trick  never was the same after that.

he was at the fernham hall, fareham last month, i saw him he give debbie the limelight thease days with her ballet for her sagrifises when he was working full time.
he always asks the magicians to sit in the front row and half way through the show asks us to stand up and lets the audience members know that thease are the local entertainers they should be calling, which is a nice jesture from a ledgend.

his variety show inspired me to go into that magical field and his tricks helped me on the way.

It also means he knows who the magicians are and who to avoid when seeking spectators  !

Having said that, I saw him in cabaret earlier this year and he left that bit until right at the end so it was a genuine gesture and made the magcians in the audience feel very respected and honoured.

To paraphrase Eddie Monsoon, he's got bags of charisma.

It's interesting (or not  ) with the audiences that I perform to, that the one magician that lay people remember by name above ALL others is Paul Daniels.

I think that it's a testimony to Paul that both magicians and lay people feel the same.

I think the thing about Paul Daniels was that his act was pure family entertainment. He never offended anyone, wasn't controversial just good clean fun. I think that's why he appeals to such a wide audience.

His was a variety performer; a breed now sadly almost extinct due to the changing entertainment policy of the BBC.

Good clean fun.
