Hey there!

You are not reviewing anything, so Reviews is wrong place for this post.

You should actually post this in:

I'll PM you for thoughts on your vid :)

In the meantime, why don't you pop in the Introduction's forum and introduce yourself?

Nice... but you really need to watch your head movements with this type of hook up... video is a great way to learn subtleties here... watch yourself...

Your head, neck and shoulders are unnaturally 'locked'. And the relative positions of the rose to your 'locked' setup tip the gaff.

Also be aware that with this hook-up, you can make the rose rise and fall too, which would make the 'locked' appearance less.

However, a very nice presentation, congrats!

Very nice.
The motions are smooth, and you have chosen a great tune for it.

On the technical side, personally I would use a full Fearson hook-up for this one, that way you could play with the height of the rose without too much head or body movement, and besides open a new door of possibilities (like making the rose float to your nose so you can "smell" it, making the rose go through a "hands hoop" in more natural way).

Also I would begin with an animation before the levitation ( like making the rose raise on your palm, or on a spectator's palm under the right lighting).

But on the whole a very nice, romantic piece. :)

Thank you for ur comment.
When i searched for rose levitation video just to learn the moves, i found out that not alot of magicians use the real rose because the real one is heavy. Its very easy to break the u-know-what. I didn't find any video on this rose levitation, so i came up with my own move. I'll watch out my head, my neck next time. :D

It would be exposing to say what it is exactly. I CAN tell you that the Fearson hook-up is the hook-up for IT used in floating cigarette, light flight, floating sun-glasses.

BTW do you use Kevlar or regular IT for this effect?
Because I had an idea a while ago to combine a floating rose routine with a shadow box illusion, and I think I will go into building one soon.

I didnt use Feason hook-up or any special hook-up. I just used the regular IT for this one. There are some benefits of this set up.
1st: Time to set up: less than 5mins. Now, it only takes one minute for me to set things up. No magician wax cuz this is a real rose. Wax doesnt work.
2nd: easy to get off things. After u done, just break the IT. Nothing will be found.

Disadvantage: a real rose is very heavy. If u are not careful, the rose will break the IT or fall down. Ur moves will down to unnatural just like i did. But i am sure that practicing will fix this problem.

The Fearson hook-up is extremely simple, no more set up then anchoring an IT to yourself, and it gives you the ability to move it up and down and not only to the sides.
You can learn it from many places, but if you are into IT and levitating objects, you should get yourself Michael Ammar's "Easy to Master Thread Magic - Close-Up Animations & Levitations vol.3".

Just so you see what I mean, here is a floating Cigarette routine that is done with the Fearson hook-up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6spzOAhw4CA

Just imagine how it would look if the cigarette was the rose. :)

Now, you said that the rose is heavy, which is exactly why I asked if you used Kevlar IT, which is stronger then the more common IT. Try to get yourself some, it's a bit more expansive then regular IT, but it ill make you feel much safer, and will enable you to use a bigger rose if you like(but I think this one is just the right size).
You can buy some here:

Since you moved your You Tube clip to here, I hope it OK I move my original answer here where it make more sense anyways.

If you want to do floating rose you have to try Kevin James floating rose! Of course as you might know David Copperfield has used Kevin James floating rose and given this effect his very own handling.

The full effect is that the magician takes a piece of (white) tissue and crumbles it into a little ball. It dances up and down the magicians arm, then the spectators arm. It is twisted into the shape of a rose and levitates! This is very magical since there is absolutely NO correlation between the movement of the rose and the magicians body(*).

Then after the paper rose has come into life it is lit and changes into a real rose that the magician can give to the spectator as a souvenir!

On http://www.kjmagic.com/catalog/videos/rose.html you can see part of it performed!

I may - at some later stage - add a very short review of Kevin James floating rose to the review section since one day you might want to do this version of the floating rose.

(*) The biggest weakness in your version is that the rose somehow follow the movements of your body. If I may ask, which version of floating rose do you use? Anyway if this is your first effect its pretty cool....

Magic is slight of mind!
