Old Mr Formby made some films in the studios near me, well it was a stuido its swanky appartment blocks now. All so Hitchcock made a film in thare, and one for Mandrake Will Hay made most of his films there.

And here is the studios now http://www.gainsboroughstudios.co.uk/aboutus.htm

I thought convict 99 was a great film.

The blue plate is still up by the way. And i think the gates are listed so they kept them up but apart from that its all change.

You want a show they will NEVER show on tv again from that era?
Love thy neighbour....

Good news is you can get it on Dvd and its still as funny now as it was then cause they both gave as good as they got, but it certainly shows how times have changed.

I'm still personally waiting for the DVD box set of Rentaghost to become available—all 50ish episodes!

I lost the plot back at the end of the 80's when writer, and court jester Timothy Claypole (Michael Staniforth) died of an aids related illness.

Kind of put me off!

But now I'm all grown up, I'd love to see it again!

You know how you're supposed to learn something every day...I've just use mine for today in learning you can get "Love thy neighbour" on DVD!

Times have changed, look at the benny hill "chinese man" routine, in terms of PC it's to be frowned upon, but the audience really were laughing at this (I'm thinking of the interview with, was it Nicolas Parsons?).

Now, I must say, don't get me wrong, if I'm told it's offensive and the offended person backs that up with some solid grounding I'm all for getting rid, but just to say it's offensive because (in the Benny Hill example) he's imitating a Chinese accent I'd say you're kind of missing the point of the comedy...People can make fun of my background I don't mind (think goodness gracious me all going out for an "English" one of them says "I'll have the blandest thing on the menu", another "I don't want anything too bland, I'll try chicken and chips that's not too bland" of course I'm paraphrasing, but hopefully you get the point.

That's just my opinion of course!

I saw a great book once, it was all the usual Kids nursery stories written in a PC way so you had little red riding hood who was saved by the tree engineer etc. etc. I can't remember the details unfortunately, but it was v. funny!

edited...(see below)

Bring back tv that used to entertain, who wants I'm a big celebrity brother superstar singer get me out of here reality rubbish...!
