If this is the Color Fusion DVD that you're referring to, then instructions on how to split the card are included. It takes practice to get a good look to the finished card and you need to leave the glue to dry overnight before using the gimmicked card.
As everyone will tell you - there's no substitute for practice and it took me about a full deck of cards to perfect the split, but they were still good enough after about half a deck's cutting to fool everyone I performed on.
On another note, the American products used in the DVD can all be purchased in the UK under different brand names. I use a craft knife and a Pritt or UHU glue STICK and have never had any problems.
I've soaked cards in the past and it doesn't help me peel them and the cards seem to warp when they dry out which means that they can look odd when compared to the rest of a deck.
