Smashed and restored

Postby Johnny Wizz » Mar 26th, '07, 11:48

I am still looking for a smashed and restored watch trick. I can't find one anywhere. I have spent hours on the web searching. If anyone has any idea where i might look I would be very pleased to hear from you

I did it as a DIY project with a change bag that had a hole in the bottom.

Penn & Teller's book, "Cruel Tricks for Dear Friends" explains the method they used on David Letterman's watch where it was smashed (openly, no bag) and appeared restored in the gut of a freely-selected fish...

Pick a fish, any fish.

Actually, it was "How to Play With Your Food"

CTFDF has the cut and restored snake and roaches. The Teller article on Bess post-Houdini is also fascinating, but I digress.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

Ah--you're right. I thought I'd seen it amidst all of those crazy type faces and Svengali-esque pages in CTFDF. Both were great reads, though!

Mike Danata has one that I was looking at the other day but I cannot remember what it was called. It may be on his web site

http://www.mikedanatasmagicstudio.co.uk

If you phone him, tell him that Dave said it's on the DVD rack opposite the counter although I'm sure he will remember exactly where it is in his tardis of a shop

It looked pretty good going by the description although I bought something else instead.

A lot of people do forget that I am here possibly because I am more "low profile" than most dealers! So you can be forgiven!

I am actually here at 8am in the morning, answering emails, & recieving phone calls & sometimes receiving the early bird customers! I finish at 7pm, (that's when I close the shop officially) although on one occasion I was here with a customer at MIDNIGHT! But I often work through the night, & still answer emails at 2 - 3 in the morning at times!!

One of my recent customers (Dave from Wales) sent MORE than the price of an item, when I pointed it out to him he wrote:

Thank you Mike,

to be honest, you give such a fast, professional & friendly service, I'm not really too bothered about a few quid.................

I wrote back:

Kind comments about my service, are worth more than ANYTHING , & are truly appreciated, because I know that I try extra hard to please, & do go the extra mile.

I can't ALWAYS be cheaper, BUT I can ALWAYS be relied on!!

If I say I've "Posted it" then I have.

I'll reply to emails as quickly as I possibly can, usually straight away, or inbetween serving etc.

I CHECK everything BEFORE despatch (prop wise).

I'm very fussy over the packaging of the orders, I don't just "Sling things in a envelope" when it's an expensive book for instance. It would be very carefully packaged, to ensure no damage in transit.

I won't say a thing is good if (In my opinion) it's c*** (not the best)!
If you ask a question about a trick, I WON'T be "Vague" I'm a magic dealer NOT a politician!!! (I'll tell the truth!)

I battle with suppliers constantly, on behalf of ALL OF US regarding the garbage that is SOMETIMES churned out, & HYPED up.

Confidence & trust are gained (& earned) very slowly. The opposite is gained & DESERVED very quickly!!!!!

Best Magical Wishes

Mike
