I am sure many of you have heard about the three new coin in bottle (CIB) effects that Ellusionist will be brining out in 2007, however I couldn’t find a thread here at TM so here is what I know so far....
Please note, that this information is not official and is just my interpretation of the threads I have read around the Internet.
For many years, a magician from PA, USA - Nick Verna has been performing highly visual CIB effects. He has three versions that he submitted to Ellusionist that they are now going to produce.
CIB V.1: Impromptu coin into plastic bottle. A bottle is examined and the coin slammed (kinda like Sinful) into the bottom of a bottle and immediately seen inside, both hands are then shown to be empty.
CIB V.2 Coin through glass bottle (possibly a large wine bottle) the magician visually and slowly pushes the coin into any part of the bottle, the spectator chooses.
CIB V.3 known as 'Factory Sealed' a coin penetrates a brand new, unopened, factory sealed bottle of water.
Interestingly, Ellusionist are keeping very quiet over these new effects, which some may say is surprising as they have somewhat of a reputation for over hyping. Instead the hype is coming from people who know Nick V, people who have seen different versions of his CIB's at magic conventions etc AND reputable performers and creators like Justin Miller and Marc DeSouza.
The CIB has always been an effect that I have performed. I was very disappointed with Abyss and usually just use a FC. But I have to say that these new CIBs sound very, very interesting indeed.
For real reviews from people who know Nick and have seen these CIB's live, please read; [Edit: you need to be a member of the Magic Cafe forums to find the thread - sign up and search for 3 CIB's for more info]
