You have to marvel at the extreme arrogance that's been demonstrated (in some instances) on this thread... condescending reactions to someone who could be unsure as to the existence of magick.

Tell me, is anyone here so priviledged that they can say FOR SURE - with absolute certainty - that there is no such thing as magick?

Science is beginning, very slowly but beginning nonetheless, to look into these kinds of issues - things which for the past fifty years or so have been laughed off as rubbish.

You may have informed beliefs about the world, but that doesn't make them a certainty, and doesn't give you the right to mock those of others.

Oh, don't worry, those guys are both real. The tooth fairy is just a midget wearing a leotard and wings who has a fetish for children's teeth and the easter bunny was genetically modified with both human and chicken genes. Santa, however, is just some creepy old guy dressed in red who likes to watch little kids.

Oh no I.D., I wasn't referring to you - I meant the posts which made outright fun of the original poster.

I thought that you were being sincere.

What's wrong with all of you who are "informing" this guy that magic isn't real??? (I'm being very serious).

First of all, as Cardza stated, who can claim with absolute certainty that "magick" or black magic or whatever doesn't exist? ..and that THAT was probably the initial question of the person who started this thread. I do, however, find it a bit odd that he/she would just "ask" us and take our word for it, however we are claiming to be magicians - so if you ask an accountant about your taxes you could ask a magician about weird spells... no?

Secondly, why would anyone who claims to be a MAGICIAN go through so much to prove to EXACTLY YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE that magic is fake, and we are "'just' clever people with quick hands"??? It doesn't make any sense! Market yourself as a magician and not a nimble clever guy!

Here's the original question:

Does that really look like a well-formed, considered inquiry worthy of a similarly formed reply?

I had a hard time understanding what he actually was asking. Could maybe have a clue, but not sure. Unfortunately I find similar cases in other forums (not magic) quite often.

Is it the sort of question that warrants some of the responses though? Had it been more carefully constructed the general attitude of the responses I'm talking about would have been the same - it's happened before on here.

It's how I imagine a lot of people casually interested would put the question, especially on a forum - but as I said it's this attitude of "obviously" that gets me... I mean, science is still in its infancy - who's to say what will be known in a few million years or so?

I mean like Dark Magic I'm not good at wording and stuff and I know that magic is real it's one of those things that is hard to explain what I mean
