I can't even shuffle a pack of card correctly without them going everywhere!!

To be fair I was similar when I first got the book. But it gives some good tips on how to hold the deck, how to shuffle it properly before you even start.

I'm sure everyone else on the forums will back me up on this: its the definitive book on card magic. I've had it for around 3 months now and I'm about a third of the way through. Already I have my friends stunned by what I can do. Last night I was reading the rest of the book (that which contains effects that are beyond me at the moment) and it really is tremendous stuff. Truly brilliant.

And the best bit? Absolutely no gaff decks, trick cards, etc etc needed whatsoever.

  most of us have been there.

It all just takes practice, practice when watching the telly or any other time you can. I've developed a really anoying habbit of fiddling with my cards at work when I'm thinking.

Now that is very true, I was really able to develop my routines after reading this as it gave me clean alternatives to using double back and faced cards.

This all sounds good. At this point in time even if all I can do is shuffle the pack correctly I'll be a happy bunny!

Don't worry about going off topic, all the best people do it :D

I get some strange looks when I'm sitting there shuffling and cutting away but most of them are used to it now.

Not to worry, I was the same, I remember the first time I opened my first bikes. I opened them up and went to shuffle them but most of them ended up on the floor. It reminding me a bit like people how go ice skating for the first time.

I just got my technique right then started to just play with the cards absent mindly while watching the TV. I found it is a great way to train your hands to handle the cards while your not really concentrating on them.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Just checked it out - this one yeah??

Worth getting as well as Bobo and Royal Road then? I'll have too much to read :)

When you get CCM, make sure you get the latest edition. I'm not sure the year it was printed (as my book has some pages torn out  ) but on the cover, the word "MAGIC" is being levitated by the magician with a wand. Don't buy them one with him levitating the ball over the hat because it doesn't have as many tricks as the newer one.

At least I'm not alone then!! I rather like the idea of practicing whilst watching the TV! :D

For under four pounds, it's worth a look. If you can find only one trick in it that you can use to good effect, then it will have paid for itself. I have several books, what I call "throw-away" books, that I've gotten a trick here and there out of, that no other magicians are doing, that play very well to an audience.

There is a great deal of good stuff to be found in these cheap, little throw-away books. Don't overlook them.

Mike.
