Just how long have you got?

mostof the stuff thatI've bought off ebay would qualify but it has to be the Army of 52 DVD from Ellusionist

The Raven. The art of sleight of hand. And yeap one dont like room 101 by Jermay either it could have been good like, one of things that come with it should have been made for you.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

For me personally, I would say 99% of the stuff I buy at conventions on an impulse! I just never learn! :) It always happens the same way.. I get a bit bored behind my stand and have a little browse around, before I know it, I have a bag of stuff to take home at the end of the day.

It's usually not the case that the item itself is bad, as it was demonstrated really well. It just turns out not right for me to perform personally. For another performer it may well be the best trick they brought that year.

I've found over the years that you can sell a great trick to hundreds of people who LOVE it, but a few will not, no matter how good or acclaimed the trick is. Performing magic is very subjective, and the choice of a trick being the best or worst that you own, can sometimes be as much about the buyers performing style, approach, expectations, experience and persona, as the trick itself. Its probably a good thing at the end of the day, otherwise we would all be performing exactly the same tricks to the public.

Tudors - Heckler, or that CardShark one. both totally not worth the money.
also didn't get my monies worth out of my PK ring, but i can see how a lot of people could use it really well, it just wasn't for me. plus it broke quite quick. i like how it says on the material "limited only by your imagination", turns out my imagination is pretty limited!
i've also got a Mondo Lock sat in a draw that's never been used.
And a linking rings set.

i really don't want to add up how much all this stuff set me back

Custom R&S decks made to specification - PM me for details

I'm just curious, what didn't you like about Banachek's DVD?

I thought it was great. I learned a ton about muscle reading, and the interview/story telling at the end was fun.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

I felt the interview bits were fluff and the muscle reading bits very superficial. Most of all though, I listed it because I never have and almost certainly never will use muscle reading.

Yay, someone else said it, now I can come out of the closet safe in the knowledge that someone else doesn't rate the Banachek dvds as highly as the rest of the world. I DO use muscle reading but found the information on the disk VERY limited and rushed (unlike the excellent Banachek book) and as for the interview there's only so much use a north western UK mentalist can get out of being told how to book american college tours.

That said it wasn't my worst purchase, that honour rests squarely on the shoulders of the £60 Osterlind Stainless Steel Blindfold, only 15 seconds out of the box i knew i would never, ever, ever use it, ill fitting, suspicious, kinda 80's and exceptionally uncomfortable...but it seemed like a good idea at the time :)

Thanks for the heads up about the blindfold- I was considering getting it.

I got both the Banachek Book and DVD on Muscle Reading, so I got a lot out of both. It was nice to see it in action.

For me, it was Dean Dill's 'A New World'. It's not actually a bad trick per se, and comes with a nice booklet, but.... The very moment I got out of the magic shop I suddenly realised I could guess how it works. On top of that, I then asked myself why would I want a gimmicked 'Out of this World' when it works just fine as it is?

Mine has to be Digital Deception by Marc Oberon. Really like bangon but was very dissapointed. The method is shockingly bad

99.5% of gaffs, gimmicks, and other stuff sold in magic shops should come with the warning: "Will not do what it says it will."

You simply cannot beat a pack of cards and a sprinkling of fairy dust.
