Britains Got Talent

I'm suprised that on ones started a thread on this yet (although, knowing me I've probabaly missed it).

I must say it's been a very mixed bag but I'm amazed at how much I've learnt about performing from watching it.

I think that it's so obvious from all the acts that unless you do something to grab the audiences attention right from the start you've got no hope. Take the husband and wife illusionists from last night, I'd have buzzed them off before he even did the effect. Such a slow build up that really didn't seem to be going anywhere.

Anyway what did everyone else think of it?

Yeah, when I saw him come out though I thought he was going to be terrible.

As for grabbing the attention, the problem with this is they can stop you any time. They don't have to sit through the whole thing so you have to have the impact from the start.

I was going to start a thread for this but couldn't be bothered at the time. I would have actually buzzed the illusionist couple out as well I knew what was coming but the geezers expressions were just boring. What about the quick change act or slow change shall we say, That was the most pathetic act I have ever seen anyone could have got changed that quick and having a see thru curtain doesen't really help.

Nothing like the standard of David and Dania yet!

I'm sure we've all seen the 'America's Got Talent' clip of them... but for the odd few who missed it:

Always a joy to watch!

I agree with everything that everyone has said  which I have to admit is unusual for me :?

I am surprised that there hasn't been more magicians so far but maybe they will come through on other shows. I keep wondering if any TM members have got through so far?

Stand out moment so far was the Guy from Carphone Warehouse singing Nesum Dorma - simply stunning and yes, it's great to see someone who is perceived as an under dog be so damn good!

The big dance troop on Saturday night were also great.

Is anyone watching the britian's got more talent on ITV2 afterwards, It's also a great show hosted by Stephen Mulhern, whoever he is  Lots of good out takes that you wouldn't see otherwise.

I auditioned, but I got buzzed off.

I lasted 1:30,

Piers after 2 seconds.
Simon after 30 seconds.
Amanda after about 1 minute and a half.
(she said I was cute)

I did a sub trunk substitution with a girl from school.

They said I lacked confidence *grumble*

All the best,

I am quite disgusted tonight after watching this. All the magicians on there were terrible and to me it's no wonder alot of people are not interested in magic. They go on a tv show and make magic worse than before and were suppossed to be raising the profile of magic. I just wish we have some decent magicians on there in the next few day's to even things out a bit. Oh well rant over.

I didn't see it but a mate of mine linked me to this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA

and you're all right, it was absolutely stunning. Seeing Amanda Holden falling in love with him as he sang was pretty funny, and seeing Simon Cowell smile for the first time ever was cool as well. I got a lump in my throat.

To be fair, it was difficult to get a good idea of how they all performed in the short clips shown but perhaps we'll see more on the ITV 2 show at 10:30.

From what I saw and heard, there were a couple that really flopped big time and I suspect that that this unfortunately impacted on the others as the judges appeared to have had their fill quite early on.

The performance with the ducks was rather unfortunate and was a testimony to the saying "don't work with children and animals". Was that the magician who calls himself Magic Dave?

If so, it was rather disapointing as I've seen one of his lectures and he was superb but with a different act.

I admit the performance with the duck was unfortunate but on a tv show when magicians need there profile raising you shouldn't really be taking chances. If a singer messes up no-one thinks nothing of it but if a magician does, it just proves to people there beliefs that magicians are for kids or whatever are true but we all know magic has a good future and suit anybody but the problem is we have to prove this to the world and not go round messing up tricks in front of 10 million people.

You're right and I'm surprised that for TV, the routine selection by the magicians wasn't better to ensure that there was a 100% success rate.

What I found very disapointing was that the judges openly said that they hated magicians. which appeared to be a much deeper abd existing thought than they would have perhaps had from watching a few magicians perform poorly - or so it seemed to me.
