Postby Flyinbrian » Jul 18th, '07, 19:30

Don't know if this is in the correct section or not but there are a lot of magic ebooks avaliable. Can anyone enlighten me as to what thses are. Are they worth buying instead of books. what are the advantages.

Confused.

One place where magic ebooks are available for download is Lybrary. I guess the main advantage of ebooks is that if space is at a premium where you live, then you will be ok because you just store them on your computer! I think they are downloadable in PDF format and I'm assuming they are unabridged editions, but I could be wrong.

Personally, I prefer to own a physical book but some ebooks represent good value for money and can cost much less than a real book. Depends on your preferences really; I just find that browsing an ebook just isn't the same for me!

The rason I ask is Iv'e just bought Pure Effect AND Absolute magic ebooks from ebay for only £15. It sounds too good to be true. I've tried for ages to get these books.

Indeed, that sounds like bargain of the year. Let's hope you receive what you paid for.

It's a scam. It's an illegal copy. Don't buy it and report the site that's selling it to: coopy@derrenbrown.co.uk

There are no legal eBook copies of Luke Jermay, Kenton Knepper, Banachek, or Derren Brown's books. Don't support the people who sell illegitimate copies.

to know why you shouldn't.

I recommend everyone who cares about this sort of theft should visit ebay, click on the item and report it as counterfeit to ebay ( there is a link at the botton of the product description to 'report this listing'.) That way the listing will get pulled from the site, and the seller gets a warning.

I've reported it to Derren Brown and to eBay. Hopefully they can do something about it.

I genuinely didn't know I was buying something illegal. I don't want it anymore. What should I do?

I'm not actually sure if 'not knowing' at the time that you were purchasing stolen goods' is a defence, although its probably not enforcable. I think receipt of stolen goods is still an offence. Anyone actually know?

However, I assume that you paid using paypal. Just contact paypal and explain the situation. Paypal will probably refund you and chargeback the money from the seller ( Plus £10 for the honour)

Look up your paypal payment on your account, and at the bottom there is a link to 'resolution center' put in a claim, explaining that you have recieved an illegal copy, and they should sort it for you under their buyers protection scheme. You will be helping prevent theft and also get your full money back.
Hope this helps

Dominic

No worries, at least you've caused them to take a positive step in the right direction!
