I take just a TT and my brain. Sometimes, if I'm feeling in the mood, I take a deck of cards.
Frankly there are so many effects you can do with a little imagination that you should never be stuck.
Ranging from simple impromptu vanishes all the way to spur-of-the-moment 'yeah, I know an effect with a salt cellar' type stuff.
This is the reason why many people urge the reading of books, and learning of basic methods and principles. Especially so before going out and spending a fortune on one-trick-pony packet effects or DVDs.
Impromptu magic can make you a magician even in the most restricted situation.
