As the markdini said earlier I went through the cancer thing (b****k) when I was 19 so if there is anything you need to know then if I can help out I will.
Secondly if the news is that you do have then dont worry too much as the survival rates are pretty damn good. I, for one, had a 98% survival rating and I'll take those odds thanks very much.
As far as the treatment itself goes it isnt as bad as you may think. I wont go into too much detail as there is probably no point but anything you wish to know then gimme a shout.
Try not to worry too much as there is probably very little to worry about.

The biggest worry is, if memory serves, winning the Grand National as per Bob Champion on Aldaniti.

My fingers are crossed for you, Beardy Boy. Keep thinking positive, as people have said there are usually quite a few other things that these things can be. If the worst does come to the worst, the treatments aren't always as bad as you might thing.

When I was at school a best friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was lucky that they caught it early and the lump was removed with no other problems.

Keep thinking pink and fluffy thoughts :D

Keep strong Chris and all being well you'll be fine, but IF you do have it, then go and beat it!

My Goddaughter was diagnosed with one of the rarest forms of cancer a couple of years ago, at the age of 2. There are only 16 previous recorded cases of this type of cancer in the whole world, which meant the doctors weren't exactly sure HOW to treat her,as she was by far the youngest of the recorded cases.

She's now 4 years old, in remission, and is quite possible the strongest 4 year old you could wish to meet. It really has made her what she is today and nothing phases her. We've also raised over £5000 for the childrens cancer ward at our local hospital, which has helped countless other kids. So while it may not seem like it at the time, stay positive and good will come out of it all.

All the best

Carl

I guess, at the end of the day, Cancer can't be any worse than MRSA - and having lived through that, I guess I can suffer any worse :?

So if it does come out positive - what the hey, eh? I'll just take it as it comes (and that was purposefully for innuendo bingo there ;))

Love

Chris

Goodness me, good luck beardy. Hope it all works out okay.

As a Yorkshireman born and bred (strong in arm and thick in head), I feel I must respond to Rev. Lewis' remarks. Unfortunately these days there are no more "Wakes Weeks" (which I believe is Mark misunderstanding the Yorkshire dialect for "Works Weeks"). These were in ye olden days weeks when every factory, steel works and coal mine in Yorkshire would close, and every working class person went off on holiday (usually organised by the companies the workers were employed by). Blackpool was of course a favourite destination, along with Scarborough and (God help us) Cleethorpes.

Although Yorkshire works weeks may have been dreaded by the seaside folk, I do recall that Scottish works weeks were dreaded for totally different reasons. The seaside was a place to be avoided during Scottish works weeks.

Sadly now though all the steel works, textile mills, coal mines and factories are closed. The people of Yorkshire now tend to work beneath flourescent lighting in shopping malls and call centres. There's no wonder they're a bit aggrevied. If I had to spend all day on the phone trying to sell things to people who don't want them, I think I'd feel aggrieved too. Big strapping lads built for steel smelting are now spending 8 hours a day peddling printer cartridges on the phone with performance targets to be met.

I know all about works weeks because a long time ago I used to work in a factory. In fact I was the owner's son. I never went on a works week outing myself (fratinising with the lower classes was frowned upon by my father - it didn't stop me trying though, particularly with "the lasses"), but I understand that what happened was the workers got on a coach, they started drinking beer, they got drunk before they arrived a t'seaside (authentic dialect), they continued drinking vast amounts of alcohol for the full week, they got back on the coach 7 days later and returned to work.

For anyone who's bothered to read this far, I'll just explain that my father's factory burned down, I married the girl from the office, and discovered magic. It's like a Barbara Taylor novel.

I didn't know that wakes weeks were actually work weeks. Everyone in Blackpool called them wakes weeks. I thank Magic Wand for the information.

As for the Scottish holidays I suppose you are referring to the Glasgow Fortnight. In Blackpool it is true that different problems erupted during this time mostly owing to drunken Glaswegians spewing up in the street. However it was a great time for business so the locals were more than happy to put up with it.

Glaswegians spent money. Yorkshire people didn't.
