It'a bank holiday, Rob - that's why!

It's good to read others opinions. I read some astounding comments about the service of a US dealer on a site (I won't name them), it was one I was going to order from and I was so shocked by the stories of disregard to the customer it put me off. Those stories saved me some big money...

I got ''Little Smoke'' off Magic shop a few weeks ago as a free gift only to find the post you refer to and finding they actually sent ''Magic smoke'' ( and they refer to it as ''Little Smoke'' on their site ). The only reason I was a little pi**ed off was because after the stuff was prepared and left to cool, it bloody set my thumb on fire and I still have the burn marks there over 2 weeks later!!

I did email them twice and got no reply, which is the only gripe I ever had as they did not respond to my emails. And other emails I have had to send twice before a reply.

I did however speak with them this morning regarding another subject and they are very friendly and polite to deal with and I do find the service good and delivery times excellent. So they still rate side by side with Magicbox in my opinion, if not a tiny bit better

Regarding delivery times, I think it's important not to place too much of the blame on the magic dealer if orders go astray or take too long to arrive. Despatch time is the key here; if they have despatched your order promptly but, say, Royal Mail then fail to deliver it in a timely fashion, the magic dealer can hardly be held responsible, can they? But how they then deal with it determines good customer service from bad. However, if your order takes a week to despatch in the first place, then that's another matter entirely.

I placed an order with The Magic Gadget recently and it took them over a week to despatch it. I received an email explaining the reason for this and they refunded my P&P costs, which I thought was quite fair. I was happy with the way they dealt with it, even though it took about ten days before I received my order. Luckily, I was in no hurry!

I've made most of my purchases from magictricks.co.uk or magicbox. Having said that, I'm failry near to The Magic Cavern in Bolton / www.emagictricks.co.uk and love going in there. The advice and stocks are always plentiful, and it's always a pleasure. I try to support the shop environment as much as possibel.

I've found the guys at Magicshop far to easy to buy from. They deliver the next day, the orders are correct. They answer all my questions both by email and over the phone and advise me based on my hopeful outcome of a desired effect honestly if the item i want to purchase will work for me. As a result I've spent several hundred pounds this year!

So, if like me you are a C.U.P.S sufferer, be afraid, be very afraid if you decide to give them a ring. The guys at Magicshop know that service sells, and they are unfortunately very good at it!

I'm sure there are many good retailers out there but I just don't feel the need to try them yet. Yes i've bought things i've regretted or been unimpressed with. I think that's more about my buying decision and cannot be attributed to the retailer.

It's a good job i don't live close to the shop!

D.

I recently used World Magic Shop for the first time and found their service to be top rate. Costas is an incredibly helpful and when the Royal Mail screwed up, he sorted the situation out right away.
I shall definitley be using them again.

The MagicShop, that Deshi is referring to, I have had a bad experience with, which is a shame as they stock some good products. My advice is never to give one of their products a bad review. There are some very thin skinned people working there.

I have been looking at magic magic's website and they have some incredibly low prices on some things.
Has anyone used them before?
Is the service good? Quick delivery time?

I've used magicmagic very often due to their brilliantly low prices, and free delivery over £20 (which to be fair is the about average of my spendings). Dispatch is normally same day if before 3pm, next day if not. The item tends to arrive 1 to 2 days after order. I have to commend them! Worth checking their ebay shop as well for single purchases, can be even cheaper on P+P than their site!

I placed an order with The Magic Gadget seven days ago and I'm still waiting for it to be despatched. I don't mind as I'm in no hurry but it's my second order with them and they took a week to ship my last order, too. However, they have a number of items at very competitive prices. For example, I just ordered Hollow for £10 and it is about £20 at most other magic websites. I would recommend people check them out, but only if you are prepared to wait several days for your order to be despatched! (They used to refund p&p costs if your order took more than 48 hours to despatch, but they have stopped doing this now. I suspect it was costing them too much!)

Magic Nevin are very good. They will price match and also give you a gift if you can find an identical item elsewhere for less.

I don't want this to seem like I buy too much stuff but:

Davenports - my wife insists (honest) that we go here every time we visit London. Provided the place isn't packed with people the staff are more than happy to help and chat.

MagicShop - I have never had a bad experience with MagicShop and my orders always come through in plenty of time.

Magictricks - always good especially with the 10% newsletter discount.

Moremagictricks - not too good imho, lots of items listed but a longer than expected delays on delivery.

nothingupmysleeve - great customer service, had to return some items, through no fault of NUMS, no problems at all.

themagicgadget - used to use them all the time but found that there weren't many new items.

magicbox.uk.com - one problem with communication (server issues) other than that fantastic.

alakazam - loads of products some very good exclusives/alakazam produced items.

discountmagic - always worth a look even if it's only to check prices (and buy that stuff you don't really need).

E and Penguin - international postage and customs charges!

only ordered off a few sites...and e-bay ;)

NUMS: Great prices, good communication - Seige is a great guy - great shop

E and Penguin - People complain of custom charges...luckily, I have as yet, never been hit

merchant of magic - only ordered once, with next day delivery, and it was great - no downers there

I know I have ordered off a few others, but the mind slips at the momento!

Love

Credit where credit is due, I ordered from www.magicmagic.co.uk for the first time this week (see those adverts at the bottom of the forum pages do work) and have to say I was delighted with their service.
Although they don't have the biggest range of stock, I was jolly pleased and will use them again. The reasons why I was impressed are:

1) Their prices were drastically lower than any others I could find on the net.
2) As I clicked from TM I was given a code for 10% discount, saving even more!
3) As my order was over £20 I got free delivery
4) Also I was eligible for a free gift (which you can choose yourself) and got Reel Magic Vol.1 for nowt!
5) They reply to emails very quickly
6) Ordered on Wednesday, arrived today

I recommend them without hesitation. Check if they stock something before you buy somewhere else as two items I ordered were £5-6 cheaper than anywhere else.

Lord Freddie, that certainly sounds like a very good deal you got there. I've not used them before but will certainly look at them for my next order. I'm looking at Blindsight, which they have for £10.99 - the cheapest I've seen it for so far.

I placed an order with Magic Gadget recently and after a week of waiting for my item to be despatched, they emailed me to say they "could not locate the stock" :?: (even though it was supposedly in stock when I placed the order) and so they refunded my money. Quite disappointing, especially as their prices are generally so keen. I'm not really having good experiences with them so will probably give them a miss from now on.
