Hello to all at TM...

Ok, so I've been interested in magic since I wowed a very tough crowd of 6 year-olds at my infant school so many years ago. Fisher Price magic set, ah, sweet memories...I guess it wasn't until David Blaine (who I used to like, but sadly, it seems, disappeared up his own i am the messiah egomaniac anus), who seemed to inject magic with, and finally, a touch of cool. As it should be. Which is why I think close-up magic is just so beautiful, right there in the spectators hands. It has that necessary personal element that it was their coins, their cigarette, their keys... Plus, it's one of hell of a chat-up line!
Anyway, I'm 31 now and still adore magic, and my bank-manager hates that I do! But, I guess i lie somewhere between amateur and skilled hobbyist. Cards being what I am best with. But it's only this year I guess that i've regained the confidence to show some things to strangers at bars and clubs and it's such a great feeling.
Right, well, great to join and look forward to talking with you all in the future.

welcome sir!

What kind of effects you perform? It's good to hear that your interest in magic has been re-born!

Love

Chris

Hey, Littlest Hobo. Welcome to TM. Glad to see you heregetting back into performing a bit. Just out of curiosity, what effects have you been performing recently/what are your favorites with cards?

Oh, and do they still make that Fisher Price set?? I'd love to get it for my nephew (and turn him to the dark arts before he gets too old for me to influence) 8)

Cheers guys.

Hey Benny boy, good luck in Vegas you lucky thing!

kevsashark and Blapsing_Beard: When I'm not feeling too confident I do things with little skill but high impact like Stigmata or wiregrams. Never thought much of wiregrams before as I couldn't work out of a way to introduce the wire. Now though, I just say about being at a recent party and that this is the wire from a champagne bottle. Nobody has ever questioned it. Then I wrap a flash tenner round it and light. Have done this surrounded and people absolutely love it. And with the flash notes people think you're either burning real money or they credit you with some swift undetected sleight of hand. But i need to learn more forces as I can only do the slip-cut which is still a beautiful force.
Also, the I bought the Raven a couple of years ago but for some reason just found its way into my bottom drawer. Dusted it off a few months ago and now I love it. It's permanately attached to my clothing. Or reattached, as I do change my clothes! But with a 2p shell changing into a 10p and people are just dumbstuck.
Have any of you got Jesse Feinberg's Coin Thru Box? I use it with a cigarette pack and it really is very nice indeed.
Anyway, I can do some reasonable moves and changes and flourishes with cards, but I need to work on my misdirection skills and stop worrying that I'm gonna mess up the move. Otherwise, I may as well be signposting it for the spectator - 'Please look away, as I am about to do sneaky things you shouldn't be aware of ...'

You got me wondering on this and I found this sight: http://www.thisoldtoy.com/L_FP_Set/toy- ... cshow.html

It is the exact same set I had. Almost poked a little tear of nostalgia from me for lost innocence! [/quote]

Littlest Hobo,

Thanks for the link to the Fisher Price set. Alongside your tear of nostalgia is my dear of joy that my Christmas shopping for my nephew may already be done. Oh, and thanks for clarifying the "change of clothes" issue. I wasn't sure, what with the whole "hobo" thing and all
