Also try some nlp in routines, it makes mentalism all the more puzzeling( it's also the closest real thing you have to mentalism and hypnotism)
For someone starting to look at mentalism, I would say that this isnt the route to take. Start with the classics...Annemann...Corinda...Cassidy etc.
For someone starting to get back into mentalism, there is no need to study NLP.
Personally, I would say that once you become more experienced in mentalism...still avoid NLP. I havent seen one half decent routine (actually I havent even seen a bad routine) based on NLP. I've seen psuedo-NLP routines, but thats different. Does it help with performance...thats debatable as far as I'm concerned. The NLP master practitioners I've met (and by master practitioner, I mean someone who has paid to go on a course in which everyone who pays becomes a master practitioner) have been what is sometimes refered to as NLP zombies, and instead of creating that holy grail of 'Raport', actually do the exact opposite, and make people feel ill at ease with them as they seem to be copying all the movements and gestures you are doing.
Sorry to rant, its just that NLP malarky makes me come out in a rash. A The emperors new clothes comes to mind.
