Backpalm

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I also agree with seige, if the spectator just assumes your hand is empty it is much stronger. However a good back palm can be used as a utility move if made natural enough. I have used it to switch coins, or as a nice hold out.

I've been having huge problems with this one too. I've come to the conclusion that my hand just isn't built to be able to do this and I'm now looking at ways around it. Huge thanks to Lady of Mystery for all the help she's given me with this.

Backpalming cards is no problem for me, but coins...

I think my cack/lefthandedness is maybe what makes it difficult, but I just can't get the proper grip and make it look natural. My hand is is contorted when I do a back palm that I get mistaken for Jeremy Beadle.

It's not an essential sleight, I feel, as all the others have caused me no difficulty and I can do the things I need to do.

Cards for me isnt a problem either...but those coins!

I wanted to learn this because im not particularly good with coins but id like to be...I didnt like cards till later and i still prefer coins today but im way better with cards...

I think coins require a whole lot more practice than cards.
Usually when i learn a new sleight in cards i can get it good in 2 days(depends on the sleight).

With coins, just to do a classic palm well it took me well over two weeks(i still cant palm very well with my left hand)

Well im re-studying MCM and hopefully ill get better.

I always tend to use the "Down Palm" to make coins appear from ears. At least that's how i think the palm is called, i havent read about it in many years.

I found that rubbing the index/middle finger and thumb togheter act well as cover to get close from someone eyes. Specially because you can show your hand open just before with your fingers wide appart from each other.

As for the back palm i never got it right so i never used it really, i stayed with the gosh pinch and somekind of reversed french drop where the coin fall in back clip between index and middle finger. This one is probably in bobo's book ill see if i can grab the name when i come back from work.

Edited: Its not in bobo's book and i have no clue where it come from or how its called, this is bothering me much!

There's always the back thumb palm, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to transfer from there to a classic palm without anyone noticing
