Would Hypnosis work on a baby? Discuss (sorry felt like being random)

Not that Im suggesting to Hypnotise one.............just fancied a random discussion

Are you sure, because when we sing babies a lullaby or speak to them softly they fall asleep, so isnt there some sort of connction between that and when doing an induction ?

Sleep and a trance state are not one and the same.

There's a difference. A baby finds comfort in a lullaby. They're not induced, just sleeping!

Now... I rather DO think that there's a VERY strong connection between wine and hypnosis, however

I think Chris may have a point. Mind you I don't believe in "hypnosis" anyway so I suppose it works on babies as much as anyone else.

As Bandler said, EVERYTHING is hypnosis...

In more observable terms, a lullaby might well act as a natural anchor of sorts to a baby, helping the child to enter into a different state of consciousness...

And listen to Mark, he full well knows there's REALLY no such thing as hypnosis

There are a few listed as new and used on Amazon. Some of them are a bit pricey, though.

Babies lack the level of social interaction and socialisation that hypnosis taps into in using suggestion techniques and engaging with the willingness of the subject to be induced into a trance. I guess the skinnerian in me thinks that babies are condition response at that age and that with cognitive development acquire the social skills that will make them more conducive to hypnotic suggestion.

Why would you want to hypnotize a baby? It's not like you'll be able to get it to quit smoking or act like a duck everytime you clap your hands.

I dont I was just starting a random conversation about a theory I had x

when i count to 3, you will stop soiling yourself...

surely a baby would have to be aware that you are hypnotising them, to thus enable them to allow hypnosis to happen...

the lullaby thing would be the sound of its parent's voice which they are pre-conditioned to recognise over the previous 9 months, and soft rythmic pattern of the song...enough to relax them and let them go back to sleep...

...or just give them gin...

I once tried Ericksonian language on my nephew to try to get him to sleep. Complete failure.
